2. Documentary Outline
‘Supersize me’ is an expository documentary in which Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock
directly speaks to the audience and sets out on a journey to answer the question what
would happen if you ate nothing but fast food for an entire mouth. He answers this
question by doing just that and eating nothing but food from the Mc Donald's menu for
30 days and continue to eat 3 meals a day. he must eat everything on the menu at least
once and cannot refuse to supersize his meal when asked. He travels across the country
interviewing both experts and an equal number of regular people on fast food.
The effects Morgan suffers from his diet both physically and
emotionally will make most people think twice about eating
fast food and the consequences of it.
3. Production
• Morgan Freeman is shown eating nothing but mc Donald's
all day everyday for 30 days.
• He makes a point of attending appointments with experts
on a regular basis to monitor his health and the changes
that the food binge makes to his body.
• Morgan shows a huge change in his personality throughout
the film. We see him go from what is considered an active
and healthy man to a man who is constantly tired,
depressed and lifeless.
• Every appointment he attends shows an increased risk on
his medical health.
• Eventually he is advised by all specialists to not proceed
with his food binge as it was having extremely harmful
effects on his body.
4. Message
‘Supersize me’ emphasizes the
message of the dangers of fast food and
their effects on our health. Throughout
the movie, we witness the extreme changes
that the fast food had not only on Morgan's
physical health, but also on his psychological
health too. After we see him consult a variety
Of experts we are shown the seriousness of
Obesity and how it is responsible for an extortionate amount of life threatening illnesses.

6. Narrator
Morgan Spurlock is the narrator in his documentary
‘supersize me’. He uses the ‘voice of god’ form of
narration. This allows us to trust what he says as he is
the voice of authority. Not only
does he do the voice he also
appears on the screen making
him a host.
7. Stereotypes
Morgan appeared to only show obese people eating
inside mc Donald's. This automatically makes the
audience assume that it is only obese people who
eat in mc Donald's, as they are the only people
really shown.
He also failed to show any positives of
McDonalds for example they how they collect for
Charity in store and how people enjoy the taste of
Their food and how it is a treat for them.
