3. There are some beautiful tracks of the prehistoric humans in France, worth visiting
Lascaux Cave is famous for its cave paintings 17000 years old.
In Antic times, France was populated by the Celtes. In Carnac, Britany – north
West of France you can see Dolmens. When the Romans invaded the
country, they named the Celtes of old France : the Gaulois.
4. Jules Cesar ‘s troops invaded France in 58 before JC till the end of Roman times.
From this periods, some beautiful buildings remained in France.

5. After Roman times, the Middle Age started about 500 after BC. The first King of
France is Clovis – means Louis in old times. At the end of his reign, Paris was the
capital of now called France. The Middle Age covers a very long period. It finished
in the 15th century. Many kings ruled and transformed France.

6. After the Middle Age, Francois 1rst was a famous King. France was very rich
under his reign. Many beautiful castles were built. Education, invention, culture
were developed. France explorers were venturing the seas as Jacques Cartier
who discovered Canada.

7. Probably the most famous King of France, he reigned for 72 years and was known
as the Sun King. He was very powerful and an absolute monarch which means
everybody in the kingdom had to obey him, pay taxes and had no right to act, even
say things against the King. He spent a lot of money in wars, country conquests, in
castles and feasts. He called himself not using I but He. He is also worldwide
known for the creator of the Chateau de Versailles, the home of Kings from 1682 till
revolution.
8. After years of strong monarchy, wars, extreme wealth for a minority of
people, extreme poverty for the rest, French people could not accept the absolute
control of a King on them. They revolted against the King, Louis 16th, and attacked
the jail Bastille as a symbol. The King and the Queen were arrested and executed.
The most important resulted of this revolt is the end of Monarchy and the
Declaration of Human Rights - the basis of democracy. The ideas of the French
revolution were used for the American revolution as well.
9. It took many years, many governments to put in place the French Republic. Since
the Revolution, it is a Democracy, with a President elected every 5 years. Our
President is elected directly by the French citizens. Today, our President is
Francois Hollande.

2. French cuisine is considered one of the best cuisines in the world and
there is an average of 2 cooking books being published every day.
3. France is famous for having many castles, palaces and manors. It's said
to have around 40,000 castles.
4. There are more than 300 kinds of cheese made in France.
5. One of the most popular symbols in France is the Eiffel tower which is a
famous tourist attraction that stands at 300 meters tall.
