- You need to be clear about this. Here is some examples, Motivation, Implementation, Ideas and Strategies, How To’s, Support, Accountability. Examples of the 8 Key Areas of Business.

- If you do not have time to do it then you need an implementation specialists.
- You need to be realistic in the return you are going to get for the investment.
- This one is easy. You can always google but referrals are always good. Before meeting with somebody though make sure it will be worth your time. Ask some probing questions on the phone, get a feel of who the person is before doing anything. If you have more then say 2 or 3 of each needing help then a generalists is probably better.
- There is so many horror stories out there. And the industry is rife with them, though there is also good stories. Talk about networking event and what happened. The key is what due diligence are you doing on this person.
- In the specialists industry there is no regulation. You can call yourself whatever you want, print it on a card and then off you go. So you do need to be careful.
- Do you wait till its too late. Talk about Kleenmaid. And waiting till its too late. Also talk about the Aussie attitude that it is not O.K. to ask for help. This is what can really hold your business back.
- Be warned of the fluffy stuff.
- If a specialists is not willing to give you a list of references to all clients that they worked with then ask why. There could be excuses like confidentiality etc, which is some occasions there could be but be upfront you want to talk with quite a few people.
- A consultant should be presenting an answer, a motivation guru should be asking a lot of questions.
- This is a tricky question and you really need to be careful on which way to go. In some ways it is better to have the same ethics but sometimes not the same values. Get a pertinent question like, how do you feel about refunds and giving to clients. Also example of being in a room of high end coaches and played a game.
- This is important to understand. Why, cause you can find out what they need to fix more then anything. Remember business is here to give you 2 things, Cash, Money. Note what the end results are.
- This is important to understand. Example TKD school in the USA. Also my experience.
- Are they congruent with their teachings?
- Will they have the hard discussion that needs to have. Who sacks who first?
- Think about this, would they be happy to get another specialist in without feeling threatened. Do they tell you when they are wrong or stuffed up. Of course on this Action always speak louder then words.
- Find out what education they do, how they do it and what of this do they themselves implement.
- Do they make things simple to understand, education should be made simple, not complex. Use my accountant as an example.
- How do they report back to you on what needs to be done and how it is needing to be done?
- Really at the end of the day you are looking for results, feel good results are great though if they do not spur you to action, really question what feeling good is versus the freedom of getting things done.
