Buddhism has Four noblE truths
(main teachings), these are
1:ExistEnce is suffering (Dukkha).
2: suffering arises from
attachment to desires.
3: Freedom from suffering
(nirvana) occurs when attachment
to desires ceases.
4: Freedom from suffering is
possibly practicing the ‘Eightfold
Path’, which lays down a process
to acquire ethical,moral and
mental discipline.
Buddhism is a very
old ancient
religion. It is
still one of the
world's largest
religions with
300 000 000
followers.
3. Mahayana Buddhism
not only tries to
get themselves into
a place of no
suffering but
everyone around
them as well.
Buddha's real
name is
Siddhartha
Gautama however
he is known to
most as Buddha.
There are two main types
of buddhism they are
Theravada Buddhism and
Mahayana Buddhism.
Theravada Buddhism mostly
focuses on finding peace
of
mind and meditation where
there is no suffering.
The top six buddhist countries
in the world are China,
Japan, Thailand, Vietnam,
Myanmar and Sri Lanka. All
together there are 370 million
followers
Buddha first
discovered
enlightenment
when he was
35, from his
experiences he
made the four
noble truths
mentioned
earlier.
4. The eight-spoked
dharmacakra is the
symbol of
buddhism. The eight
spokes represent
the Noble
eightfold path of
Buddhism.
The eightfold path is made up
of eight qualities made by
buddha that we buddhists must
live by. It was made to help
people acquire ethical, moral
and mental discipline.

name is Siddhartha
Gautama however he
is known to most as
Buddha.
Buddhism
originated in
Northern India
in about 563
BC. Prince
Siddhartha
Gautama. Siddhartha
Gautama's new
religion spread
like wild fire
throughout china
and many other
countries.
Siddhartha Gautama
enlightened and
taught the people of
India for over 50
years, he was known
as Buddha.
6. Nirvana means 'to
blow out' This
phrases refers to
the end of greed,
hatred and delusion.
Buddha also came up
with several other
names for the
nirvana these were
the Excellent
(Pantam), Security
(Khemam), Purity
(Suddhi), the Island
(Dipam) Freedom
(Mutti) and the
Culmination
(Paryanam).
We buddhists have a
strong belief that
life is suffering and
when we lose our
attachment to desires
freedom from our
suffering will occur
(nirvana).
7. At 6 he would
either go and beg
for food with his
disciples or Help
the needy.
Everyday from 4
am he would have a
wash and sit down
to meditate for an
hour.
Then from 5 am to
6 am he observed
the world to see if
there was anyone in
need.

worship at home
or at a temple
with others. There
are more than
7000 buddhist
temples
most of us have a
room at home set
aside to worship. It
will have a statue
of buddha, candles
and an incense
burner: this is
called a shrine.
when
buddhists
worship we
usually sit
on the
ground bare
foot facing a
statue of
buddha and
chant.
this is a famous
buddhist temple. it is
called the
borobudur temple in
Indonesia.
this is a good
example of a
shrine.
