Ilam is an eastern district of Nepal known as the "Queen of Hills". It has an area of 1703 square kilometers and is home to tea gardens, holy sites, forests, and rivers. Ilam is famous for its diverse agriculture including potatoes, cardamom, ginger, chili peppers, milk, and broom grass. It also produces orthodox tea. Ilam has potential for agro-tourism due to its geographical and socio-cultural diversity, existing infrastructure, and initiatives from non-profits to promote local farms and operations. Challenges include the need for policies, infrastructure, investment, and training to develop agro-tourism in Ilam.
