 Slow build up in trailer featuring fading music with a sinister tone and a monologue
from silhouette character accompanying montage shots of other characters.
 The monologue provides a general thesis to the films content and story.
 Gun sounds indicate change in tempo following cut off line from character.
 Fast moving shots.
 Introduction to characters shown through monologues and backing up shots of that
character. Making the storyline known.
 Flash transition effects. Changing in shots accompanied by loud drums.

also accompanies a noticeable plot twist in story.

3.  I believe that this trailer is very effective at enticing the audience. The films storyline or content is not particularly
mysterious as it is, so laying the plot out in the trailer does not ruin the story- as having watched the film I know more
twists occur that are never referenced in the trailer. If anything it helps the audience go into the film already knowing the
character’s, so there are no spoilers.
 The title effects used in the trailer particularly create an interesting, urban style to the film, which I feel makes it look more
appealing to people interested in the genre.
 The music is very effective at making the film look more action packed, hard hitting and fast paced- something that for its
target audience is appealing.
 The film does well to set up the story and characters, but only does this, generally looking at the outset of the film, so this
entices viewers to want to see more of the content and what happens when all of these things are put together.
 The trailer does well to portray different scenes of different tones, and this is massively enhanced by the use of music.
E.g., parts are fast and hard hitting, whilst others are slow motion and the audio is mostly just music. These blend together
well to make it clear to the audience the film is not just a linear movie on one general crime theme, it is more interesting
and intricate.
 Overall, when I see this trailer, I get the impression that the film looks to be special and not just another crime drama.

 Opens with suspenseful music with studio titles before a sudden technical glitch to hint films
content.
 Loud noises for the fading in of the opening action shots.
 White flashing transitions between significant action shots with sound effects.
 Background monologue accompanying the slowed down action broken up with flashing
transitions to introduce a suggestion into the story line and slowly build up interest in the films
content with montage shots of increasingly bizarre things.
 The music rises up in intensity to a point when the screen blacks out and the film then falls to a
slower pace.
 Characters introduced by off screen and then on screen dialogue. Also this introduces the concept
of the film.
 Upon characters question into plot, subtitles begin to appear under the films specific style and
also accompanied by a monologue.
 Continuous use of sound effects.
 Characters defiant dialogue creates a sped up action sequence with faster montage shots and
high paced music.
 Trailer temporarily slows down to a stable medium tempo point with new music.
 Sound again creates a shift in tempo and makes the music more slowed down as the action
appears slow motion in montage
 Credits are slowly introduced to the sound of music with increasing tempo.
 This builds up to a climax with finishing monologue and final credits.

5.  I think that the trailer is quite effective at attracting its audience, however despite enticing the audience to see it
I feel it gives away some of the plot that is most enjoyable for the film when not known prior to viewing.
 Rather than give away subtly facts about the characters and their role, the trailer instead opts to give
information about the films plot line and hence it’s content is given away to the audience.
 The effects demonstrated in the film are good though, and the action sequences (which at the same time were
relatively new for Hollywood) appear lucrative for the target audience.
 For a trailer however, it lacks a certain artistic cutting edge, and does not look particularly interesting in this
manner. The titles used seem a bit linear and basic and also they use simple taglines that have been seen many
times before.
 The music is good and varied, and it also breaks the film up too. However in comparison with the actual film, it
does not fully capture the mysterious tone. The trailer would do better for the film if it was more mysterious,
instead it appears very in your face as if it were a thriller.
 Towards the end many good action shots are used in a montage to entice the target audience.
 The trailer directly addresses the audience in an inquisitive manner, hence it appeals to hem in making them
want to see more. Unfortunately, the “more” that they want to see is somewhat revealed in the trailer already.
 The ending line is particularly alluring.

 There is ambient sound during a flashing sequence which is relatively unique, accompanied
by what becomes the most iconic feature of the film through a dolls laugh. The character is
mysterious and the scene follows in a suspenseful, rather intense manner.
 The scene shifts through quite violent transitions and flashes on the screen, which then
slows down to show the main characters through faded transitions.
 Atmospheric music plays with sound effects rolling over newspaper articles and narrated
by a background voice describing the antagonist of the story.
 Slow fading in and out used as transition.
 Amidst the narrative of the films antagonist, the villain also describes what the heroes of
the film must also do, in a rather chilling way.
 Subtitles appearing describing the antagonist of the film.
 Characters are introduced one by one with background voice labelling them.
 Film trailer appears confusing and disjointed, intense and chaotic towards the end.
 Different characters shown in violently moving scenes. The action moves quite quickly and
certain parts with intense music playing.
 Titles appear slowly and hauntingly following montage shots breaking up the fast moving
scenes.
 At times characters jump out violently at the screen which appears shocking and
unexpected, thus setting a tone for the film itself.
 Title fades in slowly to the sound of the iconic villain of the film.

7.  The trailer sets the tone of the film by starting slowly and vaguely at first and then getting faster towards the end and
more intense as more of the plot is revealed- really showing how it is a horror thriller film.
 The plot is revealed only slightly, the characters are shown and their aim in the film, however no resolutions are suggested
and especially the primary story line/identity of the films antagonist and focus, therefore audiences are enticed to want to
know the latter especially and how the plot suggested will pan out.
 The trailer is rather non standard for horror trailers, as where as other horror trailers make it obvious what the story is
exactly, where it is set and under what context etc, this film only reveals small amounts of information and is shown in a
non linear, fast paced way, it is not a simple case of Heroes being chased by a serial killer, as the killer is never shown, more
focus is placed on the victims.
 The music is very effective, however there is a lack of variation in it and the trailer never really leaves the same pace.
 The tone is captured very well particularly through the grungy look of the sepia toned shots and at the title shots, however
the titles do not demonstrate anything particularly exciting they still work well.
 This trailer stands out from normal film trailers, and most importantly leaves the audience wanting to know more about
what the film actually is, as the film is unique and more of a horror/thriller hybrid, this is clearly shown, and it would entice
it’s viewers.
