2. WHAT IS PLAGIARISM
It is the using of some one’s works and either claiming them as your either
intentionally or by mistake.
That’s right mistake or intentionally it is still considered plagiarism because in the
copyright world ignorance is just as bad as knowing.
However the re is a way to avoid this problem and that is to cite your
sources.

3. WHAT IS CITING SOURCES
It is a way to use an author’s work(s)by giving them credit for their works when one
uses them.
What does one cite?
The list
Direct quotes
Direct passages from a work
A paraphrased work
Any thing that is not your own work or is not public knowledge

4. SOURCE CITING TYPES
There are three different citing styles
(yes three because academics can’t agree on which is better)
The Types
MLA - the English/Literature people
APA - The science people
Turabian/Chicago - The historians
The are books like the Bedford Handbook that can help anyone understand these
types of citing so buy one.

5. OVER DO IT
The most important rule to citing is if you are not sure if you should or should not
then do it over citing is better than under citing and possibly plagiarizing by
mistake.
