2. Developing the vocabulary knowledge of students- sharing strategies
3. Department discussion- next steps
To do:
Bring one strategy that you use to successfully teach and develop vocabulary in your
subject.
Be prepared to talk about this for two minutes.
Venue: School Hall

students.
Format:
Teachmeet- a series of 3 and 5 minute presentations with some
discussion time.
To do:
Email BDA to sign up for a 3 or 5 minute slot to share an idea from your
classroom or department.
Venue: School Hall

making revision easier.
•It makes them review their work and
think about it – because they have had
to summarise each lesson.
•Students can put a number beside
each topic on their contents page to
rate their understanding of each topic.

  • 2. CPD sessions this half-term Thursday 29th September 4-5.30p.m Key Priority: Access for All Focus of meeting: Vocabulary 1. How can we improve the vocabulary knowledge of students? 2. How can we develop reading skills in our students? Agenda: 1. Reading Cloud- Tiarnan O’Cleirigh 2. Developing the vocabulary knowledge of students- sharing strategies 3. Department discussion- next steps To do: Bring one strategy that you use to successfully teach and develop vocabulary in your subject. Be prepared to talk about this for two minutes. Venue: School Hall
  • 3. CPD sessions this half-term Monday 10th October 4-5.30p.m Key Priority: Challenge for All Focus of meeting- sharing strategies that stretch and challenge all students. Format: Teachmeet- a series of 3 and 5 minute presentations with some discussion time. To do: Email BDA to sign up for a 3 or 5 minute slot to share an idea from your classroom or department. Venue: School Hall

Contents Page (Toolkit Page 60) •It helps them to organise their work – making revision easier. •It makes them review their work and think about it – because they have had to summarise each lesson. •Students can put a number beside each topic on their contents page to rate their understanding of each topic.
