British Council Literature

The Literature team is part of the British Council Arts Group based in London. The team works extensively with artists and cultural organisations, building skills, capacity and cultural awareness, creating access to audiences and markets, and promoting international collaboration and creative exchange. Poems on the Underground, founded in 1986, is supported by London Underground, Arts Council England and the British Council. Poems are selected and the programme administered by the writer Judith Chernaik and poets Gerard Benson and Cicely Herbert.
