English language is one of the most spoken languages around the world. I
choose at “Carrera the Idiomas” because I consider that English allows people
travel and meet important people, so you only have to communicate with tem by
using it. Besides, I will have more opportunities to get a job because nowadays
English is as a second language in any country. I think that it was my best choice
because offers a high quality development and an English Teacher degree that is
perfect.

My goals for this semester are many as improve my pronunciation, learn some
British and American accents. On the other hand, I am going to make an effort to

group activities, being punctual, respecting others opinions, paying attention in
class, coming ready to discuss topics with extra information, bringing all the

Expain in YOUR OWN words how each question should be answered in order to
know if a web sites is reliable.

No .- QUESTIONS YOUR EXPLANATION.

1 Is it somebody’s web page? We could realize if it is a personal page when it
contains a name followed by a tilde
percent sign or words that show the names like: people
2 What type of domain does it It comes from organization (.org), government (.gov),
come from? educational (.edu), informative (.info) and sometimes
are frome the country page like Ecuador (ec), Spain
                                         (es) and soon
3 Is it published by an entity If the institution or the publisher is well known, for
         that makes sense? example: www.britishcouncil.com
4 Who wrote this page? We should look for the mane of the responsible
(author or institution) of the page, if that is not
possible we need to truncate back (erasing until last
                                         slash) the URL.
5 Is the page dated? Is it If the page dated, it has a recently year actualization at
current enough? the end of it, if this year is not recently is maybe
because the publisher has abandoned it.
6 What are the author’s As we know, any person can upload anything to the
credentials on this subject? web like simple opinions, so it is necessary to confirm
                                         the credentials of the authors.
7 Are sources document with If there are links that contains more extra information
footnotes or links? that are supported the main topic. This information
have to have sense a o good criteria
8 If reproduced information It should have a copyright statement, if it doesn’t have
(from another source), is it is important to find the original source, and if it you
complete, not altered not do don´t find it you have to avoid to get information
fake or forged? from this page
9 Are these links to other If this links presented more than one points of view
resources on the topic? beause this information is more balanced than the
others that has a point of you.
10 Who links to the page? You have pay attention if the page is from other sites
that are not of the owner.
11 Is the page listed in one or If it has a fraction of the web, or other web sites that
more reportable directories make it more reliable.

                                                 10
or page?
12 What do other say about the Read how people say and think about the page. To do
author or responsible that we have to search the web site
authoring body? And analyze the comments
13 Why was the page put on the There are a lot of reasons that people put on a page in
web? the web, but you have to have a good criteria to choice
                                      the best web site
14 Might it be ironic? Satire or A page could have animation and is colorful or has
parody? some animated pictures, or it could be more serious
                                      and only have professional pictures
15 Is this as credible and useful If it has quality in information. Because a page could
as the resources (book, have good and bad things, it could cause a great
journal articles, etc.) confusion therefore is important to know what we are
available in print or online reading
     through the library?

Title of work/product: Describe evaluation criteria used to
critically analyze the content of Web pages.

In this unit was about how to evaluate web sites and plagiarism. It
helps audiences to get true information and also present information. I learned
from this unit that useful webs sited have some command in the URL
direction as .com, .gov, .edu, and so on. Also, those pages have a lot of links
to provide if the information is true. Moreover, when you evaluate web sites
you should look for author address to look for his or her help or provide her
information. Also, I learned from this unit that we must site authors
when we copy information from books and web sites. In others
countries if you make plagiarism you will go to the jail. Therefore, I
learned to site web pages. People around the world believe that
plagiarism as copying another's work, or ideas can provokes
problems, so it is true if you do not site those ideas or texts you take,
you can get in trouble.
I included it because it provides what I know. Also, it provides that I
really worked in this unit content. On the other hand, “Describe evaluation
criteria used to critically analyze the content of Web pages.” Was the
objective from this unit, so it was developed by us. Next time, I would
research more about evaluating webs sites, and I would make some organizer
graphics in PPT to remember it.

This unit was about Bookmark free online journals and web sites to
develop the four language skills. I learned to use diigo to keep useful
web sites, So for that my teacher asked us to create a diido account
and we had to add 5 webs sites for each topic as writing, reading,
oral, listening, EFL teaching. As a result, I have in my diigo account
30 pages that I will use in the future teaching those subjects. I
include this piece because it provides my effort doing this kind of
jobs, also it is my evidence that I was in class participation. “Identify

” It was the objective of this unit that we did. Next time, I would like
to add more web sites that will help me to improve my writing
because I am not good at writing, but I am good at using technology.

This unit includes writing, writing, reading, and listening
stages that teacher should know to develop in their students those
skills that are very important when you are learning a new language,
but the most important thing that called my attention was the writing
stages and the dyslexia problem that some students present, so

Evidence for Element 4
                                Blogs in Education
Name: Elizabeth Castillo

1. How would you define the term "blog"?

A blog is a free tool to students and people who would like to share information,
and facts. Besides, it allows to add videos, pictures, gifs, calendars, and so on, so
students can explain topics using blogs as an online tool. Therefore, students can
do writing homework and, receive feedback from other pupils.

2. What types of blogs have you heard about?

I have heard that there are three types of blogs. First, the tutor blog. It is for
professors who would like to create forum discussion, so pupils give comments.
Also, teachers being able to write to the main part. Besides, teacher will guide
online students to do homeworks. Second, the class blog. It allows students to
interact in a virtual class. Students can do collaboratives works. Also, it could use
as a free forum discussion of any topic in which students can add pictures, videos,
web pages addresses, and so on. So, it could be use as a virtual space to teach
writing and reading class. Finally, the learner blog, it is by individual learners or
small group of pupils who like to learn writing and reading subjects. Also, it can be
used to do journals for writing practice without spend a lot of paper and save our
planet to the global warming. In conclusion, those kinds of blogs are good to
develop a foreign language by writing and reading skills.

3. What is one example of how YOU would use blogs in your EFL classroom?
for this question you need to explain three things: the objective(s) of your
blog (use the ABCD Method), the students' level, and how you expect to
evaluate the effectiveness of your blog.

I would use to teach writing and reading skill in order to make my students
interact.

Objetive: Having studied vocabulary related animals, students of the five level of
Elementary School from 10 to 11 years old will be able to discuss about animals
around the world by writing some animals´ traits in an online activity. This objective
is not clear. Please check the information about the ABCD method to write lesson
objectives.

Students level: Elementary: 10 to 11 years old

First.- I would ask my students create a blog in this site
https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&passive=1209600&co
ntinue=http://www.blogger.com/home&followup=http://www.blogger.com/home&ltm
pl=start

                                          19
Second.- I would ask them to do a paragraph about animals features.

Next..- I would ask them to give some comments to their classmates

Finally.- I will ask them to add pictures, charts, videos to reinforce the previous
topic in the writing paragraph.

This assignment is not complete. How are you going to evaluate your
students’ participation in the blog.

You should also improve your language skills since there are very basic grammar
mistakes. Finally, you need to follow instructions. You had to write a title for this
document, but you haven’t done it.

Keep working hard!

  • 12. INTERNET AND MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES STUDENT SELF-REFLECTION ON EVIDENCE FOR ELEMENT 1 Name: Elizabeth Castillo Date: Title of work/product: Describe evaluation criteria used to critically analyze the content of Web pages. In this unit was about how to evaluate web sites and plagiarism. It helps audiences to get true information and also present information. I learned from this unit that useful webs sited have some command in the URL direction as .com, .gov, .edu, and so on. Also, those pages have a lot of links to provide if the information is true. Moreover, when you evaluate web sites you should look for author address to look for his or her help or provide her information. Also, I learned from this unit that we must site authors when we copy information from books and web sites. In others countries if you make plagiarism you will go to the jail. Therefore, I learned to site web pages. People around the world believe that plagiarism as copying another's work, or ideas can provokes problems, so it is true if you do not site those ideas or texts you take, you can get in trouble. I included it because it provides what I know. Also, it provides that I really worked in this unit content. On the other hand, “Describe evaluation criteria used to critically analyze the content of Web pages.” Was the objective from this unit, so it was developed by us. Next time, I would research more about evaluating webs sites, and I would make some organizer graphics in PPT to remember it. 12

I include this piece because it provides my effort doing this kind of jobs, also it is my evidence that I was in class participation. “Identify and bookmark free online journals and Web sites about language skills, grammar, functions, pronunciation and other linguistic and methodological aspects of English language learning and teaching. ” It was the objective of this unit that we did. Next time, I would like to add more web sites that will help me to improve my writing because I am not good at writing, but I am good at using technology. 14

  • 19. Evidence for Element 4 Blogs in Education Name: Elizabeth Castillo 1. How would you define the term "blog"? A blog is a free tool to students and people who would like to share information, and facts. Besides, it allows to add videos, pictures, gifs, calendars, and so on, so students can explain topics using blogs as an online tool. Therefore, students can do writing homework and, receive feedback from other pupils. 2. What types of blogs have you heard about? I have heard that there are three types of blogs. First, the tutor blog. It is for professors who would like to create forum discussion, so pupils give comments. Also, teachers being able to write to the main part. Besides, teacher will guide online students to do homeworks. Second, the class blog. It allows students to interact in a virtual class. Students can do collaboratives works. Also, it could use as a free forum discussion of any topic in which students can add pictures, videos, web pages addresses, and so on. So, it could be use as a virtual space to teach writing and reading class. Finally, the learner blog, it is by individual learners or small group of pupils who like to learn writing and reading subjects. Also, it can be used to do journals for writing practice without spend a lot of paper and save our planet to the global warming. In conclusion, those kinds of blogs are good to develop a foreign language by writing and reading skills. 3. What is one example of how YOU would use blogs in your EFL classroom? for this question you need to explain three things: the objective(s) of your blog (use the ABCD Method), the students' level, and how you expect to evaluate the effectiveness of your blog. I would use to teach writing and reading skill in order to make my students interact. Objetive: Having studied vocabulary related animals, students of the five level of Elementary School from 10 to 11 years old will be able to discuss about animals around the world by writing some animals´ traits in an online activity. This objective is not clear. Please check the information about the ABCD method to write lesson objectives. Students level: Elementary: 10 to 11 years old First.- I would ask my students create a blog in this site https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&passive=1209600&co ntinue=http://www.blogger.com/home&followup=http://www.blogger.com/home&ltm pl=start 19
  • 20. Second.- I would ask them to do a paragraph about animals features. Next..- I would ask them to give some comments to their classmates Finally.- I will ask them to add pictures, charts, videos to reinforce the previous topic in the writing paragraph. This assignment is not complete. How are you going to evaluate your students’ participation in the blog. You should also improve your language skills since there are very basic grammar mistakes. Finally, you need to follow instructions. You had to write a title for this document, but you haven’t done it. Keep working hard! 20
