Romanians celebrate both Christmas and New Year's Day with religious services and festive meals shared with family and friends. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, people attend church services and have a traditional meal that usually includes pork and chicken as well as vegetables and pastries. To ring in the new year, fireworks, music and dancing in the streets are common as people wish each other a prosperous new year.
