2. Almere, the city our partner school resides, is well-known with its unique
architecture. The building that can be seen behind represents for the
relationship of The Dutch people with water and was built with the
inspration of waves.
9. We were informed about Almere by the docent at the museum called CASLA

11. Digitalis, is a school whose programme depends on digital technology obtained
by means of i-pad using. Its origin derives from an idea of a parent who
considered that the schools are inadequate about using the contemporary
technology. Now the idea is so popular that many schools are thinking about
applying the same programme.

of the school.
13. The students who are playing a game providing them to learn how to use
keyboard fast, also have opportunity to gain various kinds of skills
14. The nursey class teacher in Digitalis wears different costumes according to the subject of the
class. For example she wears and (also students wear) traditional Dutch shoes while she is
teaching syllables. Students know that she is going to teach the items of a sentence when
she wears a hat that can be seen in the picture. Acting is a common method at schools. The
methods targetting the kinaesthetic skills of the students are usually preferred.

16. The students who come to school at 08.00 a.m. review the subjects till 10.00 a.m.
Then they have new classes till noon. In the afternoon they have workshops by
means of which they can apply what they learned in the morning session. They
have an opportunity to choose one of the seven workshops which lasts 30
minutes.
17. De Watertuin is a school for thosewho have behaviour disorders, mental
deficiency and learning disability.
19. In classses for physical education at De Watertuin students, thanks to the
very easy physical activities, have opportunity to develop their social skills.

playing the instruments can understand that it’s their turn by following the
symbols on the blackboard.

23. The American teacher of the school is well-known with her innovative methods.
She is using a kind of teaching technique which targets to the touch sensation of
the students by means of using different materials inclusing shaving foam, a
kind of sand, paints and wood. Students do painting and writing activities with
these materials.
30. Students enjoyed the old village with its traditional houses, roofs and
bridges.
31. Aventurjin is a school for those who have learning disability between 12-20
year old students where they have opportunity to experience indoor and
outdoor internship to be ready for the real life.
32. The director told us that they seperate students into 4 groups according to their
handicaps. The first group is those who have physically handicapped. The
second is those who have disorders for long term. The third group is those who
have learning disability. The last group is those who have disorders at home.
They are seperated according to their IQ levels and have classes at the same
classrooms those who have mental or physical disorders.
33. While our students were observing the process at he class, it is understood
that the activities carried out by means of digital devices especially targets
the senses of disabled students.
34. Our students cared about not missing any details while they were following
the teacher carefully at the class.

41. The interior and exterior architecture of the school decorated and painted in
order to make the students feel comfortableand peaceful who have mental,
sensual and physical disorders.
42. Maybe the most interesting school we visited is Opvang Krullevaartie
kindergarten which depends on the philosophy of German pedagog Steiner.
The approach’s main idea is to create asymetric external architecture for
schools in order not to restrict the imaginations of the kids.
43. Without taking the weather conditions into account kids let to play in the
garden for half an hour every day. One of the approaches of the school is to
upskill the kids in living in the nature.
45. All the furnitures and toys in the kindergarten are wooden so it’s possible to
form and strengthen the relationship between the kids and the nature.

48. Unieke Kinderopvang is a school whose priority is the idea that all the
students are unique. They have an individualized education program and are
educating students between 4-12 years old.
49. Unieke Kinderopvang’s program depends on encouraging the social and
emotional progress of the students rather than promoting academic success.
50. By means of the activities depend on games and art, they provide a
continuous development in emotional and social skills of the kids in the
classrooms which are founded by age groups.
53. Students come together at the hall 08.00 a.m to get ready for the day. After
this meeting lasts 15 minutes, they go to their classes.
54. Various kinds of materials such as wood, sand, concrete, gravel, soilare used
to construct playgrounds in the garden in order to let the kids form a close
relationship with the materials that can be found in the nature.
55. The students of ROC can intern not only at schools but also at the activity schools
in the neighbourhood. By means of these courses students who come here after
school, have opportunity to gain skills in painting, cooking, drawing. They also
socialise in this courses. Moreover working parents feel peaceful as they know
that their kids are in safe hands.
60. A kind of independent art-school called “Twisted” has a mission to train
talented young people who had problems in social-life. Of course we had
some classes there, too.
