This is a great resource for creating targeted company and consumer lists to assist you in your business research.The first part will go over how to create a targeted company list. 3. Creating a targeted company list

4. Go to balibrary.org and click on
“Databases.”

5. Click on “Business and
Careers” or scroll down to
“Reference USA.”

6. Click on the
“Reference
USA” link. If
you are outside
of the library,
you will then
need to enter a
Barrington
Area Library
card to
proceed.

7. Click on “U.S. Businesses/Employers USA” link

8. Click on “Custom Search”

9. To select search filters, check
the boxes on the left menu
that you would like to use in
your search. Most commonly
used: keyword/SIC/NAICS,
major industry group,
geography, business size,
ownership.
If you check these filters,
they will appear in the main
column in the middle of the
screen. Enter your search
into these boxes, and after
every criteria is entered, you
can check the number of
companies in your search by
clicking the blue “Update
Count” button on the right.
When you are finished
entering your search
parameters, click “View
Results”.
You may download up to 250
records.

Lifestyles”

12. Click on “Custom Search”

13. To select search filters, check the boxes on the left menu that you would like
to use in your search.
If you check these filters, they will appear in the main column in the middle
of the screen. Enter your search into these boxes, and after every criteria is
entered, you can check the number of companies in your search by clicking
the blue “Update Count” button on the right.
When you are finished entering your search parameters, click “View Results”.
You may download up to 250 records.

14. Export your list to an Excel file

15. When you are ready to export your results to an Excel file, check the box at
the top of each page and then click “download”.

16. Select “Excel” for your file format. Then select the level
of detail you want and click “download records”.
Your records will open in an Excel format.
