2. October 2007 I was in a week
long seminar in Cyprus.
There I heard from one par-
ticipant that company name
Monkey Business may not be
very suitable. Native english
speaking person has a totally
different meaning for Mon-
key Business than us. It
strengthened my vision. We
want people to love or hate
us, not to get bored. And it all
starts by our name. Monkey
Business.
WHERE HAVE
WE BEEN?
Name and ideology
started to form during
Team Academy’s Team
Mastery coaching pro-
gram. Name Monkey
Business popped up in
London May 2007 as a
YELLOW.
PLAYFUL.
UPRIGHT.

3. misunderstanding. But it
hit the target, Tatu likes
to fool around and make
noise like monkey. So
definitely Monkey Busi-
ness, said Ville. Idea
started to develop when
we continued from
London to Bilbao to
coach there for two
weeks in Labein. There
we defined the core of
our business: More Action.
More Chaos. More Mistakes.
More Learning. When we re-
turned to Bilbao in September
2007 we got the idea about
business cards shaped like
banana and buying domain
banana.fi. Guggenheim had
done it´s job. Good job. Pe-
riod. When returning to
home we ordered business
card plan from a small enter-
prise in Bilbao which we had
visited, MyJok. And Lady
My helped us. We had to
travel far away to see close.

WHERE ARE WE
NOW?
Since last Autumn, when we
started to talk about Monkey
Business people has been ask-
ing: “What is this Monkey
Business?”. Instead answering
(because we were not sure fo
the answer) we ask them
back: “What could it be?” We
want to be special and go to
the other direction than oth-
ers as Anita Roddick advised
people to do. If play is chil-
dren’s work should adults
work be joyful as play. We
have crystallized our work in
three words: yellow, playful
and upright. We haven´t de-
fined our mission yet. It will
get it´s birth through the work
with customers. Long lasting
things take time to emerge.
We have been coaching teams
and individuals in Spain,
Sweden and Finland. We
have done mistakes and we
have succeeded. Right now,
we have just gotten our busi-
ness cards (did you get one al-
ready?), stickers and note-
books. Even the first version
of our website is open.
Moreover, we are in Oman
SoL Global Forum where we
are launching Monkey Busi-
ness internationally.

5. WHERE ARE WE
GOING?
After Oman, we will go back
to Jyväskylä Finland, where
our homebase, Monkey Nest
is located at Team Academy.
But after that we want to get
abroad again. We want to get
international coaching pro-
jects. To make a difference.
Maybe we want to start an
investing bank and find a way
to apply Micro-Credit system
into a Finnish and European
context? But Money is not the
mission.We start with people
and see where we end up.
HOW DO WE GET
THERE?
We need more action. We
need more chaos. We
need to do more mistakes
to learn more. We need
friends. We need partners,
customers, business god-
fathers and you. We need
to be humble, brave and
stubborn.
