The electronic portfolio contains 3 student design projects completed by Kellan Baker:
1. A pediatric oncology clinic focused on the concept of synergy, using organic and geometric shapes to represent a holistic healthcare approach.
2. A modern art gallery focused on steel and questioning design, using asymmetry and industrial materials to compliment the artwork.
3. A children's theater lobby focused on initiating imagination through color, shape, light and texture.

Concept Statement
The concept for this healthcare facility will be based on the idea of synergy. The elements and principles of
design will be manipulated to convey the idea throughout the interior space. Overall, design features
within the space will morph from two separate “forces” to one combined holistic effect. Both organic and

represent a holistic approach to healthcare. Lastly, striking design features representing abstract ideas of
synergy will create emphasis and variety in the space. All of the preceding elements and principles of

15. Problem Statement
This project will address several
challenges for Emma and Andrew in their
Renderings desire to design a cutting edge art gallery
and living space; first to design a
functional, inviting, and creative art gallery,
second to design a functional living space,
and lastly to create a space that utilizes
green design.
Since the gallery is located in the
“Rust Belt” the gallery will exhibit art that
contains at least 50% of a metal material
or contain images relating to steel
manufacturing or of steel/metal structure

structures). With this in mind the art
gallery must be designed in a way that
compliments the artwork.
Concept Statement
The concept behind the design of
this art galley will be based on instilling a
feeling of questioning within users of the
space. Post-modern architecture
combined with steel manufacturing will be
the basis of the design inside the gallery.
