2. School Profile - Class of 2010
SCHOOL BACKGROUND
Belen Jesuit is an all-male college preparatory school founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba, where it operated until government seizure
in May, 1961. It reopened in Miami in September, 1961 and moved into the new facility in September, 1981.
The foundation of education at Belen is based on religious formation, academic excellence, value education, social responsibility
and athletic achievement. As a Jesuit school, Belen strives to provide leaders who are men of character committed to the Christian
spirits of understanding, social justice and concern for others.
Although the majority of Belen students are of Hispanic background, the school is open to all students regardless of race, religion
or national origin.
