Tennis is an enjoyable sport for two or four
individuals to play at one time. However, a number
of on-court games can be contested by three players
or a group larger than four. One of the most popular
tennis games is King of the Court, a game that can
theoretically be played with any number of players.
3. King of the Court
• During a game of King of the Court one player
begins as king, while the rest of the group lines up
behind the baseline on the opposite side of the
court. To overtake the king, a challenger must win
two of three points. In some cases these points must
be won in succession, though rules vary. If the king
wins a single point, the challenger goes to the back
of the line and the king faces his or her next
opponent. For every challenger the king sends to the
back of the line, he or she earns a point. A game of
king of the court can be played to any number,
though most games end with a king scoring between
11 and 21 points.
