3rd Place - Automating Windows Agent Installation
Nir Cohen
Website: www.bynet.co.il/en/
The Challenge –
The manual process of a Windows Agent
installation or upgrade can be a extremely
time and resource consuming process.
(Especially when there are 100’s of Agents)
Hero Feat –
Developed a Windows Agent installation tool
using the Automic Java API. The tool enables
a silent installation on any server that is
connected to the Automation Engine,
simplifying the manual installation process
into one simple click.

3rd Place – Automating Backups
Mark Bowytz
Website: corporate.ppg.com
The Challenge -
The backup process was distributed among
multiple tools and custom scripts with no
centralized way of tracking steps in the
process and status. Failures were a common
occurrence and troubleshooting and
correcting failures was time consuming and
complicated.
Hero Feat -
Established the Automation Engine as the
centralized point to execute and monitor
Backups worldwide. Workflows allowed PPG
to created dependencies among disparate
tools and decommission complex custom
scripts.

2nd Place - Unified Scheduling
Rick Chen
The Challenge -
Supporting over 3k jobs among key
applications without Automic was a
nightmare. The scheduling functions of each
application weren’t sophisticated enough to
provide efficient job and processes overview
and control.
Hero Feat -
Shifted responsibility of scheduling to
Automic, which allowed the consolidation of
of all nightly processing into one master
Workflow which contains over 2,700 jobs.
This allowed Support visibility across all vital
nightly jobs and enabled them to quickly
identify and resolve issues.

1st Place – Self-Service Provisioning
Joel Polster
Website: tasconline.com
The Challenge -
To develop or test new applications, users
had a limited number of virtual machines
available to use which required them to
manually launch the application from the
command line.
This limited their ability to develop and
release changes to production apps.
Hero Feat -
Built a solution using Automic ARA to provision
and deploy full environments on-demand.
A QA user is now able to reserve an
environment, deploy a full application stack and
test within 20 mins. This has allowed them to
remove the environment limitation and
successfully deploy several production releases
each week.
