2. What happened?Sustainable Development Some companies that make fabric are interested in sustainable development. This means that what they produce must be good for the environment. The materials used in the fabric come from natural resources that can be replaced.

3. When did earth friendly fabrics start to be made? The idea began a few years ago as awareness grew about the need to protect our environment. In the past, cotton has been planted to produce material for t-shirts and other cloth but toxic chemicals are used to prevent insects & weeds from destroying cotton crops. Polyester fabric is made from petrol but it is difficult to get, it needs lots of energy to produce, & there are limited supplies of petrol worldwide.
