1. To Clean Printer Cartridge with Printer’s Software
Most Inkjet printers manufactured since 2005 contain Printer Services Software
that allow you to align the printer, calibrate colors, clean the print cartridge as
well as print a diagnostics page. To access the Printer Services for your printer:
1. Click on “Start” on the bottom left of the desktop
2. Scroll to “Settings”
3. Click on “Printers and Faxes”
4. Click on the icon of the printer you wish to troubleshoot
5. A new window will open. On the top left of this new window, click
on “Printer”
6. Scroll down to “Properties”
Since not all printer software is the same, some directions will vary from version
to version, or vary with the company of the printer you are using.
For Hewlett Packard printers, these directions will generally apply:
1. Once you’re at the properties screen, click on “Printing Preferences”
2. At this new window, look for a tab or button that says “Features”,
“Services” or “Service this Printer”. Then follow the directions that follow
under the “Services” Tab.
For Canon printers, these directions will generally apply:
1. Once you’re at the properties screen, look for a tab at the top of the
properties screen that is labeled “Maintenance”.
2. Click on this tab, and follow the directions that the printer gives.
For Lexmark printers, these directions will generally apply:
1. Once you’re at the properties screen, click on “Printing Preferences”
2. Click on “Options” then click on “Troubleshooting”
3. A new window will pop up. On the left of this new window, click on the
“Maintenance” tab.
4. Follow the directions that the printer gives.
