1. WHAT IS A SCANNER? A device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object converts it to a digital image.

A manual device that is dragged across the surface of the image to be scanned.
Scanning difficult as this requires a steady hand, to avoid uneven scanning rate that would produce distorted images.
Have a "start" button held by the user during the scan, some switches to set the optical resolution, and a roller which generates a clock pulse for synchronization with the computer .
Operate by using 3 rotating lamps Each has a different coloured filter: red, green and blue Combined into one by appropriate software
