2. Deadheads is a 2011 film classed as a Zombedy (Zombie
Comedy).
Mike one of the main characters played by Michael
McKiddy, wakes up to find that he has been
transformed into a zombie yet he is still able to talk
normally and think like an alive person. He then finds
another Zombie, Brent, that joins him on a road trip to
find his true love Ellie.
It is produced by FroBro films. FroBro films started off by
running their local high school tv station, then went on
to produce short films and now produce feature films.
Deadheads has been the only film that they have
produced. G2 Pictures were the company that
distributed the film around the UK. They are known
for distributing smaller productions.
3. In this first image it shows a two shot
of a ‘zombie’ and Mike which clearly
shows that Mike is scared but also the
zombie is scared which isn’t
conventional of what would usually
happen. It is very dark in the
background which shows that the
setting is very creepy which fits in with
the type of film that it is.
In the second image its shows a close
up of one of the zombies eating a heart,
this shows that zombies like to feed on
blood and flesh and is slightly typical
actions of what a zombie may do in the
perception of them. The blood that
they use is very realistic and because it
is red it connotes that is is passionate
and in this shot you can see that what
he is doing seems passionate to him.
4. Towards the end of the trailer fast
paced editing is used and
cutting. The fast paced editing is
used to cut to and from many
different scenes from the film
giving it a an edge to make sure
you see as many scenes to make
the viewer want to watch the
film and not just the trailer. It
cuts straight from this scene
(top) to the bottom scene within
2 seconds. In the first scene you
can see that there is a zombie
child and then in the next scene
a person is on fire, which is very
different. The use of orange and
yellow for the fire connotes that
there is warmth but because it is
fire it is much more than
warmth its some sort of danger.
5. In the first image to the right, you can see
how make up is used within the movie as
he has blood coming from his mouth. This
is conventional of what zombies tend to
look like in zombie films as you can see in
my research part 1 because there is a
zombie with blood coming from his
mouth. Also there is low key lighting
used as it is night time which makes the
zombie look worse and scarier.
In the second image you can see the
effect of make up because they have
very pale white faces with dry blood
which shows significant signs of
attack on them from zombies or they
have been transformed into a zombie.
You can also see that they are
wearing typical normal everyday
clothes.
6. There are typical sounds used that shows that
they are zombies as there are screams used and
lots of noises that are very slow. Also the
dialogue that is used brings the comedy sense
to the trailer as they make a joke about zombies
being ‘everywhere’ when they are on the
phone. By making it sound like a joke it shows
the comedy element to the comedy horror
genre.
7. In this first image you can see the
typical convention of how zombies
are usually tried to be killed with
sticks and with things stabbed
through them. Which shows the
conventions of a zombie film. The
actor is wearing ordinary clothing
which seem to be that this is
consistent throughout this trailer and
also other zombie comedy movies.
As you can see in this image it shows a
person eating a hand which is usually
conventional of what zombies do as they
eat flesh. This is what you would expect
to see in a trailer for films with a horror
comedy element as it gives a sense of
both genre’s together. By using a dark
setting and then having the actor wear
yellow it makes him stands out so you
can see what he is doing.
