Steps:
1. Explain common and proper nouns.
2. Read the text on the Olympic Games.
3. Get pupils to identify the common and proper nouns in the text
4. In groups, get pupils to play a word-chain game. Instructions for the game are:
1. Write a noun on the board. e.g. book
2. Pupils will take turns to join the chain by writing another noun, starting with the
last letter in the previous word. e.g. book-kite
3. The next person will continue joining the ‘word-chain’. e.g. book-kite-egg
4. Those who are unable to join the next word will be out of the game.
5. Pupils complete a task sheet on common and proper nouns.
