Holdings who bought BlackBook in 2012.
• Based in New York City, US.
• Predominately features R&B and Hip-Hop.
• Founded by Quincy Jones in 1993, in
partnership with Time Inc.
• Was called Volume before co-founder Scott
Poulson-Bryant called it Vibe.
• Circulation of 300,943 in June 2012 whereas
the total in 2011 was 301,408.

• Masthead is a consistent font and size
every edition of the magazine but the
colour changes. The same can be said

• Distinct font allows instant recognition

whole magazine and is behind the

COVERLINES
• The main cover line on the magazine
directly relates to the main image. It asks
the reader if they are afraid of 50 cent and
then pulls a quote out of the magazine – “I
DON‟T SEE SENSE IN RESOLVING
ISSUES WITH ANYBODY.” This again
reflects the hard background nature of his
genre Rap.
• The other coverlines are all about the
contents of the magazine. Along the top we
see the main artists that people like the
most – Beyoncé, Lil Wayne and Shakira.
• No real house colour style, all different
colours.
• Coverlines are Sans Serif.
• Arranged in a „C‟ pattern which is pleasant
to the eye of the reader.

• All of them contain a „V‟ faded in the background.
• Contents title is separated into three sections, CO, NTEN and TS.
• Text usually wraps around image.
• Double Page Spread –
• Always contains a main image that takes up whole page and an article on the other.
