Pros and cons of qualitative and
quantitative data
 Within my questionnaire I used qualitative data

(opinions, feelings and thoughts etc.) and quantitative
(data that can be measured) data. These two types of
research can be combined to equal an even larger scale
research project that would yield a lot of information.
So the questionnaire uses quantitative data to find out
prices and time scales of the magazine combined with
the qualitative data to find out why. Once you have
these two peace's of information you are able to find
out what factors create a best selling magazine.

The pie charts suggest that males prefer rock as a genre of music compared to
the other genres whereas women seem to have a more varied opinion and are
open to other styles of music.

 More male voters said they listen to music more often

than females however more male voters never listen to
music. This suggests that the males within the
questionnaire either do a certain activity a lot or not at
all whereas females average out.

As most of the target audience would prefer the magazine to be released
weekly shows how interested they are in music magazines so this is how
often I would release my magazine.
Do you read music magazines? If
yes why?
Common answers were
• Yes because I am passionate about music and enjoy many
different genres
• Sometimes because if my favourite band or artist is
featuring in the magazine
This makes will impact my magazine as it shows that the
people that enjoy music magazines don’t mind who is the
main story whereas people that only read music magazines
sometimes like their idles to be the main story. Therefore it is
best to have a popular artist or band as my main story as it is
more likely to sell.
What genre of music would you say
you listen to the most?
A common answer was
 Rock
 Alternative rock
 Dance
 Pop
This shows that the genre I have chosen is a popular
genre that people listen to and it shows the wide range of
sub genres of rock which will give me a larger target
audience and gives me a larger selection of artists/bands
to use for my main story.
What Artist do you enjoy listening
or reading about to the most?
There were a range of answers however they mostly
contained a rock or a sub genre of rock artist. This
suggests that this style of music is very popular at the
moment making it very suitable to make a magazine for
this genre. It also gives me some Ideas of what artist to
use in the main story of my magazine as it is very likely
they are one of the most popular artists in the country at
this moment in time.
