3. INSPIRATION FOR AN
ABSTRACT SCULPTURE

1) We were listening to a piece of music that Mrs. Turner put up for the whole
class to listen to while we were given 3 sheets of different colored paper
and were asked to make a 3D sculpture, interpreting the music that we were
listening to. We were also given scissors and glue to put it all together. I just
worked my way around the paper with the scissors and folded it so that it
would be a triangle/pyramid shape. I then stuck it on another piece of paper
and attached two little pieces of paper at the side.
2) I tried to interpret how the music made me feel by following the scissors to
the tune/melody of the music; then cutting pieces out and making weird
designs to make my interpretation.
The music we were listening to was Herzgewächse by Arnold Schoenberg.

4. EXPLORING ARCHITECTURE &
PUBLIC SCULPTURE THAT HAS
SIMILARITIES TO MY
SCULPTURE
My sculpture looks like these because they’re all pyramids and that’s
what my paper sculpture looked like. I wanted mine to be in a park and a
green, grassy area, like some of the pictures.

5. SOME INITIAL IDEAS FOR AN
ARCHITECTURAL STRUCTURE
OR PUBLIC SCULPTURE
I wanted my sculpture to be in a public place and serve as kind
of an entertainment purpose. I just made a rough drawing and
an idea of what it would kind of look like but I did improve
along the process of making it. I also added a few more details
like a little pond and an entry inside the sculpture, etc.

6. MAKING OUR ARCHITECTURE A
REALITY THROUGH
MINECRAFT/GOOGLE SKETCH UP
(OTHER APP) OR DRAWING
Along the way, I added a pond, made it more
colorful and bright. I added a nice pathway entry
inside the pyramid where you can sit or just walk
around. It is a nice place for a hangout or picnics.
Also to come around for a walk.

7. FINAL DESIGN CONCEPT
The function and purpose of this sculpture is for public
admiration and a extra element into a simple hangout place to
make it more interesting.

10. MATERIALS AND AREA
Materials-
Materials that could be used to
made this sculpture are
hardwoods, oak, boxwood,
cement, concrete, linden,
terracotta.
To paint it- tempera, oil
painting, gliding, house paint,
aerosol, enamel and
sandblasting.
Area-
Dubai marina because its near
and around water and it’s a
open area and could really use
parks since it would be change
from the all the buildings
around it. The people would
have a nice place to relax and
come for walks in the evenings.

11. HOW ABSTRACTION IGNITED
MY IMAGINATION
Learning about abstraction helped me add some missing
pieces into my artwork and create a unique piece of art. It
helped me to be creative with my work.
In the future, it will help me to think out of the box and make
something unique, different and creative. I will be able to use
different elements and principals of art.
