NAME OF METHOD:

I have selected GTM (grammar translation method) for teaching.
Because I have to teach 8th class according to the pattern of their PEC
(Punjad Education Commision) exam. According to this pattern GTM is the
most suitable method.

Why I selected GTM?
I have selected GTM because,

first of all the institution where I have teached belongs to rural
area of Southern Punjab and there the students are not familiar with other
methods and as well as they can understand any thing without using native
language in short time. I have not much time that I could use any other
method. And secondly I have to teach some part of grammar which can be
taught through this method.

Aim:

5|MUHAMMAD ASIF
As I have to teach the 8th class, so my aim is to enable the students
to attempt the correct answers of the MCQs. According to PEC paper
pattern of English there MCQs of 60 marks based mostly on the graamar
i.e use of articles, recognisation of different tenses and passive & active
voices. Here my aim is to teach the students in such a way that they can
easily attempt these questions. As these are all grammatical based so I
have to teach them according to advance GTM. (I have teached them
grammar through inductive approach).

Before teaching them first of all I have checked their ability by giving
them a quiz based on their paper pattern. Then I have checked their level
of learning. After that I have teached them to reduce their difficulties.

Name The Institution:
New Islamia Public School Kot Muzaffar Mailsi (Vehari)

Number of the students:
There were 23 students in the class.

Class:
   8th class of Urdu medium

Contents:
1st quiz before teaching based on articles, tenses, use of forms
of verb.

            Articles

                  i) Introduction
                  ii) Examples
                  iii) Practice

Tenses (only present, past & future indefinite)

                  i) Introduction
                  ii) Examples

6|MUHAMMAD ASIF
iii) Practice

           Use of forms of verb

                 i) Examples
                 ii) Rules
                 iii) Practice

           Production

                        2nd quiz

Feed back of the students:
To check the ability of the students I have taken a quiz based on their
paper pattern before teaching them. Their result at that time was,

Total number of students = 23

Total marks of 1st quiz = 10

Number of students whoes gained marks total = none

Number of students whoes gained marks 8–9 = 2

Number of students whoes gained marks 5–7 = 9

Number of students whoes gained marks 3–4 = 8

Number of students whoes gained marks below than 3 = 4

After this quiz I have teached them articles, tenses and correct use of forms
of verb through inductive approach and then I have taken an other quiz.
The result is given below,

   Total marks of 2nd quiz = 10

Number of students whoes gained marks total = 3

Number of students whoes gained marks 8–9 = 11

7|MUHAMMAD ASIF
Number of students whoes gained marks 5–7 = 6

Number of students whoes gained marks 3–4 = 2

Number of students whoes gained marks below than 3 = 1

Feed back of the students is given in following chart,

                       12
Comparison of marks before & after teaching

                        2

                        0

                                                     Marks

Conclusion:
By the time different methods have been used in teaching English
language. In English languge learning our problem is that it is not our native
language. So we faces varius problems and difficulties. To reduse these
problems different methods have been introduced. But still none of them is
completely applicable for learning English languge. Every method has
some disadvantages and every one can never learn a languge by the same
method. Every person has his own mind which is different from the
other’s.So different minds have different capacity and ability of learning a
language by different methods.

Because I have to teach 8th class according to the pattern of their PEC (Punjad Education Commision) exam. According to this pattern GTM is the most suitable method. Why I selected GTM? I have selected GTM because, first of all the institution where I have teached belongs to rural area of Southern Punjab and there the students are not familiar with other methods and as well as they can understand any thing without using native language in short time. I have not much time that I could use any other method. And secondly I have to teach some part of grammar which can be taught through this method. Aim: 5|MUHAMMAD ASIF
  • 6. As I have to teach the 8th class, so my aim is to enable the students to attempt the correct answers of the MCQs. According to PEC paper pattern of English there MCQs of 60 marks based mostly on the graamar i.e use of articles, recognisation of different tenses and passive & active voices. Here my aim is to teach the students in such a way that they can easily attempt these questions. As these are all grammatical based so I have to teach them according to advance GTM. (I have teached them grammar through inductive approach). Before teaching them first of all I have checked their ability by giving them a quiz based on their paper pattern. Then I have checked their level of learning. After that I have teached them to reduce their difficulties. In English languge learning our problem is that it is not our native language. So we faces varius problems and difficulties. To reduse these problems different methods have been introduced. But still none of them is completely applicable for learning English languge. Every method has some disadvantages and every one can never learn a languge by the same method. Every person has his own mind which is different from the other’s.So different minds have different capacity and ability of learning a language by different methods. 8|MUHAMMAD ASIF
