4. ABSTRACT
This project report is about Project Ankur (2017-2018). Project Ankur was held in Mulanche
Samarth Vidhyalay, Santacruz (E). It is a vernacular (Marathi medium) school for boys. . The main objective of
the project was to develop their basic communication skills followed by basics of English and Maths. After few
sessions students were divided into groups according to their ability to learn and individual attention was
given to each of them.
A total of 20 sessions were taken followed by revisions at a regular interval. Fun learning sessions
were organized for them in order to brighten up the environment of study and their active interaction. Videos,
games, quizzes and skits were organized for them to Active participation in studying.
These children are the future of our country and if nurtured well, they can bring out the best in themselves
and can grow as a person of values. Our motive is to help them create solid academic foundation at early age.
We are thankful to all the Members, Volunteers and Donors who contributed to the success of Project Ankur
(2017-2018)
5. INTRODUCTION
Project Ankur is a flagship program of Ashwamedh Foundation. It focuses on “early development
of students”. This project came into existence because of government’s rule of passing students till
8th standard of vernacular medium schools without any year drop, which had detrimental effects on
the education system leading students with lack of basic knowledge and its importance in their life.
Some of these students are not able to read and write even though they enter in secondary school.
This basic right of education is undermined because of the government’s law of passing students
without them qualifying for the next grade.
Their intellectual skills needs to be brushed up in their primary school days. Hence our Project
Ankur focuses on these students mainly of class 5th, 6th, and 7th and develop their intellect along
with reading and writing skills, and basic Maths and English. This year we added public speaking
skills and group discussion skills. When it comes to interaction with students regarding their studies
we use fun learning technique which helps us see the optimum feedback of what we have taught
the student.
Lectures were taken by Ms. Sneha Sharma (Operations Head), Ms. Blessy Varghese (Project Co-
Ordinator), Mr. Abdul Hakim Ansari and Mr. Jitendra Patel (Trustees) and Ms. Sama & Ms Betsy
(Volunteers).

9. FINAL WORDS !
Project Ankur is a flagship Program of Ashwamedh Foundation started in 2013. I was really fortunate
that I got the opportunity to lead the Project Ankur (2017-18) as a Project Co-ordinator under the guidance
of Ms. Sneha Sharma our Operations head and Mr. Abdul Hakim Ansari (Trustee). I am thankful to Mr.
Jitendra Patel and Mr. Deepak Doddamani for all the support and encouragement I received throughout
this Project. It was wonderful
experience of working with vernacular medium school. I realized that every student is precious and unique.
Every student needs personal attention and care. Condition of Marathi Medium Schools in Mumbai is very
bad. Working with them was a total challenge. Thanks to my team of Ashwamedh Foundation who made it
look so easy. It was truly enriching experience. Although we carried out lectures on every weekend, we
never lose our focus from our goals and carried out the Project successfully with whatever limited
Manpower and resources we had. This is incredible !
Relentless work of my team members have inspired me a lot. The experience that I had working with
Ashwamedh Foundation on this project made me a good, selfless and hardworking human being. I learned
that , whatever I’ve earned from the society I need to return it which will give meaning to my life.

Foundation)
