Ribbon environment
The ribbon environment is the top most area that you can see once you open
the new Microsoft applications. In certain application like, outlook for the office
2007 stack, you can only see the new ribbon environment only when you open
a process.
6. TABS, GROUPS, COMMANDS

In the ribbon we have three things, Namely tabs groups and commands.
Where as in tabs we have a set of groups and in the groups we have a set of
commands that are specific to the functional area.
7. FEATURES
Quick access

You can add most wonted tools to
quick access toolbar
To use short cuts hit the alter key on the keyboard
When you want to access the frequently sued text
editing features, you can highlight the test that you
want to change and then take your mouse a bit
upward, You will get a small tool bar something similar
to bellow, which we call as Mini tool bar.

8. CREATING NEW DOCUMENT
Office button
Click on the “Office” button
Select “New” from the menu
Select “Blank document”
Click on the “Create ” button
9. OPENING A DOCUMENT
Click on the “Office” button
Select “Open” from the menu
Select the document

When “save as” dialog box appears click
on the tools
Select “General Options” from the menu
Entre Passwords to Open or/& Modify
Click on the “Ok” button
Retype the passwords on “Conform
Password” dialog box
Click “Ok”
13. SAVE THE DOCUMENT AS TEMPLATE
Click on the “Office” button
Select “Save as” from the
menu
Select a “Word Template”
Set name & place to save
Click on the save button
14. EDITING TEXTS

Select “Home” tab from the ribbon
On the “Font” Group
Select Bold/Italic/Underline
Shortcuts:- Bold- “Ctrl+B”
Bold Underline
Italic- “Ctrl+I”
Italic Underline “Ctrl+U”
You can also use “Mini tool bar”
17. DROP CAP & WORD ART
To use drop cap
1. Select “Insert”
2. Select “Drop cap” from “Text” group
To insert Word art
Click here to insert 1. Select “Insert”
Drop caps 2. Select “Word Art” from “ Text” Group
3. Select a style you wonted from gallery
4. Type the text as you wish

18. ADDING, CREATING, DELETING STYLES
Other than applying any formatting options manually, you can always save
time by sing the Style gallery in applying styles to a set of word phrases.
To add style
Select text >> Select “Home” tab >> Select one form the “Styles” group
To create style
Create style on the work space >> Select the text >> Right click on it >> Select “Styles”
> Click on the “Save selection as New quick style” >> Enter name >> Click “Ok”
To delete style
Right click on the style that you wont to delete >> Select “Remove style from quick styl

20. CHANGE THE FONT STYLE & SIZE
You can use this command for more options

21. PAGE SETUP
You can find page setup form “Page Layout” tab
You can use this group for
Edit margin size
Change page orientation as portrait / landscape
Change page size as A5/A4/A3/Letter

22. USING PRINT PREVIEW OPTION

You can use print preview to view what will
be your document after you print it, before you
Print it.

24. CHANGE THE PARAGRAPH SPACING
You can use paragraph group o the home tab
for change paragraph options.
You can also use paragraph group to change
space between paragraph.
25. THE DRAWING TOOLBAR
You can use drawing toolbar to insert shape, change shape style, fill color, add Shadow
or 3d effect and also arrange shape.
This toolbar will automatically add as a new tab while you create or select a shape.
You can access it by clicking here on the title bar
26. INSERTING CLIP ART
After you clicking that command it will open a panel
named as “Clip art” on the right side of your window.
Then you can search for clip art, You can also use
organize clip at the bottom of the panel to browse
clip art.

On the insert tab After you found the clip art you wont just click it add
It your document.
27. INSERT A PICTURE TO DOCUMENT
It will open a window named as “Insert picture”
First browse picture location
Select the picture
Click insert at the bottom of a window

from file on the insert tab You can make changes to chart from picture tool
that will added as tab after you add a chart
28. INSERT A CHART TO DOCUMENT
Click the chart command on the insert tab
Select a chart type from the window
Do the necessary changes to chart

30. ALIGNMENT
You can use alignment commands on the “Paragraph”
group on the “Home” tab
1st command will align your text to left
2nd one will align center
Click these commands 3rd one will align right side
to align your text 4th one will justify your text( this will add a clean look to
your doc)
31. BORDER & SHADING
To access “Border & Shading” click “Page borders”
on the “page background” group placed at “page
layout” tab
Make necessary changes
Click “ok”

To insert a table
Select “Table” command on insert tab
Text to table
This option will convert your text to table
While you typing separate words using “tab” key
Select insert >> Table >> Convert text to table
33. SPELLING & THESAURUS
While you typing, some times you may seen
read lines under some letters
This will add automatically by the program to
show you the spelling mistakes
You can correct them by right clicking them
Some times you may see Green lines under yo
text this will add for notify grammar mistake
You can also correct them as above
Thesaurus can use to find synonyms words
