4. TWITTER
There are different ways you can use Twitter to promote your event
As usual, always use the official ASOC hashtags (#ASOCEU, #ASOC1920),
create other ad hoc hashtags and encourage your audience to do the same thing
when they post a photo or talk about your event.
To encourage people to tweet and share your hashtag,
you may think about a small prize, for example a gadget awarded
to the people who used it most, before the event.
5. Don’t waste your posts: create an editorial plan to schedule
the topics you wish to talk about each day (before the event),
to create anticipation and engage your audience.
Present your guests, tell interesting stories to attract user curiosity.
Lastly, ask people to share your event using the simple phrase:
Please RT [retweet]. Many of your followers will retweet your invitation.
Obviously, don’t overdo it or you might achieve the opposite effect!
6. Facebook Events, one of the platform’s more powerful tools.
An event page captures the attention of participants more than a profile or a fan page.
Start from the Facebook page created at the beginning of the ASOC educational programme. Create
a Facebook event, when you have all the information, confirmation from your guests, the schedule
and the now definitive steps.
Don’t forget to arrange the event’s image and graphic. Remember that a great many users read and
write emails, articles etc. directly on their smartphones.
So the visibility of your image must be adapted to all types of devices and media.
7. Before publishing your event online
and starting your promotion,
develop the graphic that will load
into the space set aside for the
cover page.
It will be the first thing your
audience sees. Don’t miss any
detail, especially the sizes.
It would be a shame to enter a
vague, poorly cropped
photo/image, without giving out
any information.
Think about your entry ticket
To recreate it you can use
free online tools, e.g. Canva.com
where you can choose
the right template.
8. Enter all the required information:
✔First of all write down the address of the place where
the event will take place;
✔Specify whether the ticket is for payment or free;
✔Put in tags on the topic and area of interest;
✔Upload the cover page image. Create one ad hoc,
with the event title, date and time and places in the
foreground;
✔Invite your friends, but try to select those in the area
and which are potentially interested;
✔Allow your invitees to invite friends who are also
potentially interested in the initiative to the event, to
try and reach a broader user base.
✔If you have a little time available, send out a personal
message and ask for confirmation of attendance.
9. Make the event’s wall accessible: allow attendees to ask questions, get specific information on the event and make
comments, interact with your posts.
UPLOAD PHOTOGRAPHS, VIDEOS AND LINKS
The aim is to maintain the conversation and enliven your online space as much as possible, schedule your posts, as a kind
of countdown until the big day itself.
Present your guests with captivating photos, talk about their work and even enter small curiosities to keep your users’
attention
Create anticipation with backstage and preparation videos, post links to more information on the event topic, news etc.
11. During your event someone should be keeping your website/blog and
your social pages up-to-date with posts, videos and photos of the
event.
Facebook Live streams are perfect
If anyone has not been able to take part but is very interested in the
event, they can easily follow it remotely.
Don’t leave anything to chance!
Another useful tool could be an Instagram Live video, showing the most
important moment.
Create Instagram Stories. Don't forget to enter the location, tag your
page or the place hosting you, and the official hashtags, which can
increase the channel’s and your event’s visibility.
13. Create one or more posts on your website/blog and your social pages to thank the attendees and share with them some
thoughts on the event and its success.
If you already have another event planned, start talking about it then, giving away a few details.
Spark the conversation and encourage friends and participants to leave comments and feedback on the event.
Ask for input and recommendations to build on it and improve for the next one.
Publish a photo album and share it on Flickr.
If you have created a video of the entire event, also share it on your Youtube and Vimeo channels.
Use a Creative Commons licence for allowing sharing.
