Provides motor innervation to
the muscles of mastication.

Sensory root
Contains the central processes
of the neurons whose cell
bodies are found in the
trigeminal (semilunar)
ganglion, the sensory ganglion
of the trigeminal nerve.
Motor root
Courses beneath the trigeminal
ganglion, proceeds medial to
the sensory root (joins
mandibular division)
