Equipment needed:

3. Set-Up:
The PDI & PVI kit clean must
contain full set-up and be ready to
be used at any time.
4. Storage:
The PDI & PVI kit must be kept in
a clean accessible place and in
same locations at all times.
6. In case of public vomit or diarrhea incident the following procedure must be followed:
• Block off the surrounding area with caution tape or barrier.
• Use PPE (gloves and mask) prior to starting clean up and disinfection.
• Place NILOSORB granules on the vomit or diarrhea area to absorb the vomit or
fecal matter.
• Place a red biohazard bag inside a dustpan.
• Sweep up all the vomit or fecal matter from the floor into the bag.
• Sweep up all powder residues and remove bag from the dustpan.
• Seal the bag then place it into another red biohazard bag for disposal.
• Spray or fog the entire area (within a 25ft radius in case of vomit accidents) with
approved disinfectant (Vital Oxide).
• Disinfectant must be sprayed on the affected area as well as in the air and
surrounding surfaces After 10 minutes of contact time, wipe the entire area and
affected surfaces with the disinfectant (HB Quad 750 ppm) using a clean rag and
leave to air dry for minimum of 10 minutes in addition for carpeted areas:
Shampoo the affected area with hot water only by using a shampoo machine.
• Sanitize the machine and all used equipment with 1000ppm of bleach solution for
10 minutes before placing the items back in a cleaning locker.
• Steam the affected area of the carpet with a steam machine. Record incident on
the PDI & PVI Log.

SANITIZER (HB QUAT)
• Disinfectant/Virucide for NVL Cleaning
• Dispensed from ECOLAB dispenser
• Used in caddy or in bottle with an adjustable spray
nozzle
• Used on all surfaces in staterooms and public areas
• TO USE: Clean surface with approved chemical, wash
and dry surface with a clean rag, apply sanitizer on
surface using damp rag or use adjustable spray bottle
and leave to air dry for 10
BATHROOM CLEANER
• Used on all surfaces in the bathroom
• Must be used with a foamer (foaming nozzle) never use
with regular spray nozzle
• TO USE: Foam spray chemical onto surfaces being
cleaned. Leave on a surface to work for 2 minutes then
scrub down with blue pad pr hand brush, once
scrubbing is completed, rinse thoroughly and dry off

DEODORIZER
• Used to eliminate unpleasant odors.
• Scent of deodorizer should be changed every 3 months.
• TO USE: Fill spray bottles and spray mist in the corners
and air vents. Spray and wipe hard surfaces, do not

GLASS CLEANER
• Used on glass, mirrors, and stainless steel surfaces.
• Used in a bottle with an adjustable spray nozzle.
• TO USE: Use a clean rag, spray glass cleaner onto the
rag until slightly damp. Polish area with dry rag until no
smears are visible. Do not spray directly onto surface

VITAL OXIDE
• Odor eliminator and air neutralizer.
• Comes in a plastic pouch inside a
• cardboard box. Must be removed and transferred into a
3 gallon container and installed into dispenser.
• TO USE: Dispense into the fogging machine (junior
foggers recommended) and fog the area
METAL POLISH
• Removes oxidation, fingerprints, and marks from
metals.
• Used on copper, brass, chrome, silver, and bronze.
• TO USE: Shake well before using. Squeeze onto a
clean rag or a scrubbing pad. Run onto metal and allow
to dry to a film. When dry, polish off with a clean, soft
rag to give a shine.

METAL PRESERVATIVE
• Preserves metal from oxidation, fingerprints, and
marks, making the look shiny and oxidation free longer.
• used on steel, copper, brass, chrome, and bronze.
• To use: Squeeze onto a clean rag, onto surface and
polish to give shine.
INTEK SLC
• Used in toilets and urinals to prevent scale build up in
the black water lines.
• INTEK SLC is non-hazardous, non- acidic, and non-
caustic.
• If spilled, simply wipe up or vacuum and dispose of in
the garbage.
• TO USE: Clean the toilet or urinal bowl as per
procedure. After cleaning, fill the scoop provided with
Intek powder, pour in the toiler, stir to dissolve and flush
immediately, do not leave in the toilet bowl for long
period of time.

USED LESSON
GAMAZYME/BIOTAL
• Enzyme cleaner used in toilets for Shipboard waste
treatment and in the shower drainage system to help to
eliminate odors.
• Cleans the septic tank by eating up the bacteria.
• Comes in flip top bottle and is only used in this type of
bottle as it is hazardous for health when inhaled.
• TO USE: Pour inside the toilet bowl, clean toilet bowl
with brush and flush.
NILOSORB (VOMIT POWDER)
• Used to absorb the liquid from vomit. It comes in
granules with mint smell.
• TO USE: Pour the granules on the vomit and cover all
vomit with granules to absorb the liquid
• Leave for a few minutes then sweep up into dustpan.
• Soak carpet or hard floor with HB Quat.
• Clean carpet with steam machine or with 3M chemical
#27 or #28 or mop hard floor.
• Used to clean biohazard waste.

3M #27 SCOTCHGUARD EXTRACTION
CLEANER
• To be dispensed from 3M Twist & Fill’ dispensers
• For use on carpets only
• Used in shampoo machines as an extraction chemical
for Cleaning Carpets
• Used in Spray Bottles for daily spot cleaning in
staterooms and public areas.
• To use: spray from shampoo machines and extract, for
spotting carpets. Spray from bottles and extract with
clean rag.
3M #28 SCOTCHGUARD PRE-TREATMENT CLEANER
• To be dispensed from 3M 'Twist & Fill dispensers
• For use on carpets only
• For use on heavy traffic areas as hallway, dining room,
carpets, etc.
• TO USE: Pre spray the carpet from the sprayer and let
it react for 5 to 10 minutes and then use shampoo
machine with either #27 or hot water to extract.
• Only to be used as a Pre Sprayer

USED LESSON
PROFF LOW ODOR STRIPPER
• A chemical for removing (stripping) the polish or wax from
floors
• To be used directly from the dispenser and never on carpet
• TO USE: Spread the stripper on the floor with a mop
• Let it sit for about five minutes so that the stripper can react.
• Use a rotation machine to scrub the floor.
• Pick up solution immediately upon scrubbing the floor.
• Always use proper PPE especially rubber boots.
GEMSTAR LASER FLOOR FINISH
• For waxing floors in crew areas and other areas as per ship
needs.
• To be used on floors that require waxing.
• TO USE: Strip and clean floors prior to waxing as per
procedure
• Mop floor thoroughly to remove excess stripper.
• Vacuum or dust mop to remove all debris prior to applying
floor finish
• Apply floor finish as per procedures
• Allow to dry prior to opening area and buff as needed

USED LESSON
QUICK FILL 560
• Removes soap film, grease, oil and other soils
• Mainly used in high traffic areas such as marshaling area,
galley.
• TO USE: Fill mop bucket with solution using oasis dispenser
• Apply solution with mop and leave on floor until solution
penetrates soils
• Use rotation machine or stiff bristled brush to remove stubborn
soils
• Use wet vacuum or mop up solution or squeeze toward the
floor drain.
• Rinse with clean water and allow floor to air dry
OASIS 100 - NEUTRAL FLOOR CLEANER
• Daily floor cleaner including Vinyl and tiled floors.
• Remove soap film, grease, oil and other soils.
• TO USE: Fill mop bucket with solution using Oasis dispenser
• Apply solution with mop and leave on floor until solution
penetrates soils
• Use stiff bristled brush to remove stubborn soils
Mop up solution or squeeze toward the floor drain and rinse
with clean water
• Allow floor to air dry

USED LESSON
SLIP STOP 055
• Floor cleaner for cleaning of Slip Stop treated marble and
granite floors.
• TO USE: Fill mop bucket with hot water, add Slip Stop 055
following the dosage recommendations. Apply cleaning solution
to the floor using a mop, leave to soak for few minutes.
• For general cleaning, remove the cleaning solution using a wet
vacuum. For deep clean, scrub the floor and then remove the
cleaning solution.
• Never to be used on carpet
SLIP STOP 085
• Floor cleaner - wax and grease remover for Slip stop treated
floor
• TO USE: Quarterly to deep clean B degrease Slip Stop treated
floors. Mix solution as per instruction, apply on floor and leave
to soak for a few minutes. Scrub the floor paying particular
attention to the grout joints. Extract with wet vacuum. Repeat
this procedure using Slip Stop Green Cleaner S055
• Never to be used on carpet

USED LESSON
API CLEANER
• Alkaline (not acidic) water based API floor cleaner is used at
least twice a week with scrubbing machine to maintain API
floors.
• TO USE: Mix solution as per instructions, apply on floor and
scrub with 3M pads, occasional high pressure water cleaning to
remove particularly difficult dirt or light sanding with fine sand
paper. Always rinse with plenty of water.
API WAX
• For waxing API floors (if required) and re-waxing every 3 to 6
months)
• TO USE: Apply API WAX on clean floor when dry. Avoid
excessive quantity Only a thin layer must be applied.
• Re-wax every 3-6 months depending on area.

CLEAN & SMOOTH LOTION SKIN CLEANER
• To be used in restrooms, galleys etc where hand washing
facilities are in use
• TO USE: Clean dispenser at location to clear blockages.
• Pour into dispenser as needed.

• To be used during monthly cleaning or when necessary
• TO USE: Add once whirlpool is filled with water along with

• Drain and rinse with fresh water
SIMPLICITY
• Pool surface cleaner
• Used on whirlpool and pool surfaces as cleaner (1* step of 3
bucket system)
• TO USE: Apply on surface and scrub thoroughly with scrubbing
pad or brush
• Rinse with fresh (potable) water

• Reduces foaming of chemicals
• To be used together with another chemical as aid to ease the
use
• TO USE: Add into a chemical solution before it is applied on
surface (e.g. Quick Fill 560) and foaming did not occur yet or
add into foaming liquid to reduce bubbles (add with Sparkle
power cleaner during whirlpool monthly cleaning)
3M GUM REMOVER
• Used to remove chewing gum from surfaces
• TO USE: Pour solvent on the gum and leave for a few minutes,
scrape the gum using a spatula or back of the carpet brush on
the carpets, use a clean damp rag to spot clean the area after
gum is removed
