This Earth and Space Science course will satisfy 8th grade standards while engaging students through technology. Students will participate in discussions, journals, individual and group projects to learn content and technology skills. They will describe the Earth-Moon system through a web quest, present a solar system model collaboratively, and explain cycles through an online exam. Activities include weekly reflective journals, individual research of a solar system item, contributing to a group Prezi project, and podcast meetings to plan the presentation.
1. This Earth and Space Science course is intended to be
implemented in a seventh or eighth grade virtual classroom. The course will
satisfy all 8th grade Earth and Space Academic Standards as well as enrich
the students with the benefits of utilizing technology in a meaningful way to
complete research, planning, collaboration, and presentation.
The student will be engaged in many activities
for the benefit of content learning and presentation,
Including group discussions, reflective journals, individual
Web quests, small group presentations, and large group
projects. Through these activities, the students will
experience various technological capabilities and
their applications.
2. • The students will describe how Earth and the Moon work as a system
(characteristics, mass, gravity, rotation, revolution, etc.) through a web
quest product.
• The students will present a detailed model of the solar system as a
whole group (characteristics, mass, gravity, rotation, revolution, etc.)
through a collaborative presentation.
• The students will explain the cycles found within the Earth and Moon
system, as well as the solar system and their effects on our lives
through an online exam (essay format)
