favourite websites each day.
11. Keep your personal stuff
private and
think about what you say and
do online.
12. Remember that people online
may not be who they say
they are.
Online friends are still strangers
even if you have been talking to
them for a long time.
13. Don’t share personal information
online. Don’t share your
full name, photos, addresses,
school information, telephone
numbers and places you like to
spend time.
14. Make sure you
have set privacy settings to
restrict access to personal
information.
15. Always use a nick-name
instead of your real name.
Use an avatar instead of your
real picture.
20. Block people who send nasty
messages and don’t open
unknown links and
attachments.
21. Always delete emails from people
you don’t know, and don’t open
attachments from people you
don’t know. They might be nasty
or have a virus that can stop your
computer working.
22. If someone is mean or sends
nasty messages online, block
them.
23. Talking bad about someone
on the internet is very real and
very upsetting… it is no
different to usual bullying on
the playground.
24. It’s so easy to say something online that
you wouldn’t say to someone’s face
because you know it would hurt their
feelings.
Don’t hide behind your mobile phone or
computer – words on a screen can be
as hurtful as the words that come from
your mouth.
27. If someone sends you nasty
messages or is being mean to
you, tell your parents!
28. If someone you know is being
nasty to someone online, speak
to a parent or a trusted adult
about it.
29. Being safe is about being
SMART, making the right
choices and knowing what to do
when you just don’t feel happy
about something.

internet? It’s so easy!
31. The S means Safe:
Never give personal information to
people that you are chatting with
online.
No name, no address, no photos,
no school name!
32. The M means Meet:
Meeting someone that you have
known online can be dangerous.
Only do so with your parents’
permission and when they are
present.
33. The A means Accepting:
Accepting emails from people that you
don’t know can be dangerous.
They can contain viruses or nasty
messages.
34. The R stands for
Reliable:
Information that you find on the internet
may not be true.
Someone can lie about who they are.
Always check information before you
believe it.
35. The T stands for Tell:
Tell your parents or another adult that
you trust if someone or something
makes you feel uncomfortable or
worried,
or if someone you know is being bullied
online.
