Adoption of the cloud will not start with the core enterprise applications. There are several ways to start the adoption. One is to move in from training environments through development and test to production. Another takes the importance of applications into consideration, starting with secondary, supporting systems. The approach discussed in this session is to start with edge systems that are already in the DMZ, on the fringes of an enterprises, where they engage in interaction with the outside world. Systems on the edge of an enterprise have special challenges regarding availability, scalability, security and external interactions with systems or people. This applies for example to external portals, B2B interactions, workflows that involve external actors, mobile APIs and integrations with SaaS instances. These systems are obvious candidates to move to a public cloud - and handle these special requirements on the PaaS platform. This session discusses and demonstrates a number of Oracle PaaS Cloud Services, their mutual interaction and how they can be leveraged to move these systems over the edge and into the cloud: Java Cloud Service, Integration Cloud Service, Process Cloud Service, IoT CS, Mobile Cloud Service, SOA Suite Cloud Service and Message Cloud Service. We will go over a number of scenarios for moving edge systems from on premises to the public cloud. Essential in this discussion is of course the integration from the edge system in the Oracle Public Cloud to the on premises backend systems.

Mais sa mise en œuvre au sein d’une entreprise reste complexe et coûteuse. Après 2 ans à mettre en place des plateformes managées de ce type, nous partagons nos expériences de ce qu’il faut faire pour mettre en œuvre du serverless en entreprise, en évitant les douleurs et en limitant les contraintes au maximum. Tout d’abord l’architecture technique, avec 2 implémentations très différentes : Kubernetes et Helm d’un côté, Clever Cloud on-premise de l’autre. Ensuite, la mise en place et l’utilisation d’OpenFaaS. Comment tester et versionner du Function as a Service. Mais aussi les problématiques de blue/green deployment, de rolling update, d’A/B testing. Comment diagnostiquer rapidement les dépendances et les communications entre services. Enfin, en abordant les sujets chers à la production : * vulnerability management et patch management, * hétérogénéïté du parc, * monitoring et alerting, * gestion des stacks obsolètes, etc.

The core of CloudStack networking has always been software-defined. As the networking industry evolves to a software-defined future, CloudStack will have to evolve with it. The presentation will examine the present state of SDN in CloudStack, look at some industry directions and attempt to predict the evolution of CloudStack with those trends. Bio Chiradeep Vittal is a Distinguished Engineer in the Converged Infrastructure Group at Citrix where he has technology leadership responsibilities around Citrix Cloud Platform, Citrix Lifecycle Manager and Citrix Workspace Pod. He is also a Project Management Committee member of the Apache CloudStack Project. At cloud.com (acquired by Citrix), he was a founding engineer, often tasked with the thorny details of virtualized networking and storage. Prior to cloud.com, he worked at several Silicon Valley startups in various architectural roles. Chiradeep has a B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT, Bombay and a M.Sc from the University of Alberta. He has spoken / presented at several conferences, including CloudStack Collab, LISA, OSCON, ONS, SDN Summit and LinuxCon. Cloud Foundry and OpenStack are the biggest Open Source projects in their domain. As IaaS and PaaS walk hand in hand the idea of combining both worlds is close. anynines is running their public Cloud Foundry offering on top of OpenStack for more than three years with two years running on a self-hosted OpenStack setup. As head of public Paas operations Julian Weber has gained a lot of knowledge to share about setting up and operating Cloud Foundry installations. This presentation leads the audience through the journey of adopting the Cloud Foundry Open Source version and breeding it to a highly available and production ready Cloud Foundry setup. The listener is guided through the analysis of potential single points of failure in standard CF Open Source setups up to required changes in the Cloud Foundry OS release to reach our goal. As this talk is about Cloud Foundry operations we also need to talk about experiences with BOSH as a general purpose tool for software lifecycle management of big distributed systems and possible improvements to the BOSH tool set and workflows.
