   or not intentionally.

Example :
Pendaki gunung itu terperosok ke jurang.

 Example :
Wajahnya terbayang-bayang dalam
 ingatannya.

  Example :
Peti yang berat itu terangkat juga olehnya.

example :
Dalam keluarganya ia tertinggi ukuran
 badannya.

  example : Kakiku terinjak di bus kota.

Example : Narapidana itu terhukum mati.

Example : Sari tersenyum kepadaku.

If affix ter- put with root word which has affix
   ter-, so that one of “r” will be assimilated :

 ter+rawat = terawat (not terrawat)
 ter+ramah = teramah (not terramah)
 ter+riang = teriang (not terriang)

Especially for root word “lanjur”, letter “r” will be assimilated
 ter+lanjur = telanjur (not terlanjur)
If the first syllable has group “er”, letter “r” will be appeared or
    not appeared.
 ter+cermin = tercermin
 ter+percaya = terpercaya
 ter+percik = tepercik
 ter+pergok = tepergok
