Zonta has General Consultative Status with UN’s ECOSOC & participatory

19. Violence against Women (VAW)
Globally, 1 in 3 women will experience violence in their lifetimes.
In 2012, Zonta International launched Zonta Says NO, a global advocacy campaign
to raise awareness of and say NO to violence against women and girls in all its
forms.
60% of Zonta’s more than 1,200 clubs worldwide participated, and the momentum
continues.

Zonta like BPW works with others to improve the lives of women,
To date it has invested globally US$26+ million to support international projects and education awards designed to give women a help up and not a hand out. These include
Micro finance
Provision of Water wells
Using entertainment to get key messages across – violence against women is not okay
Zonta
Currently we are supporting projects delivered by UNFPA, UNICEF and UN Women
They involve= prevention, treatment in the case of fistula and HIV transmission and using entertainment to get the message across that violence against women is not okay
In addition we understand the value of education and internationally we have education awards directed to women engaged in professions where women are under represented- aerospace, business
And finally- a key focus for Zonta this last year is our campaign to say NO to violence against women-
The campaign is aligned to the UN Unite campaign
