About 1 in every 4 freshmen at college doesn't come back for his or her sophomore year. The University of Georgia's New Media Institute is applying for the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation's College Knowledge Challenge grant. The Facebook Loving Care app is our solution to keeping underprivileged kids in school.

1. Development Plan

3. The New Media Institute will hire 4 highly qualified
graduate students to work third-time on this
project.
These students will be well-versed with Open-
Graph technology. In addition, they will supervise
undergraduate students who will help run and
improve the application for a semester class grade.

6. A fully functional prototype will be delivered by
April 1st 2013.
The prototype will have a working front-end and
back-end, allowing the user to pre-program in
their schedule so that the app can work as an
early-warning tool for the user’s exams.

8. Throughout April, the New Media Institute will
carry out Alpha-testing with its in-house
developers and students.

10. Facebook Loving Care will debut at the NMI
Slam.
The Slam is a semesterly event where the New
Media Institute shows off the projects its
students have been working on to professionals
in the industry. Last year it was attended by
representatives from
CNN, Delta, Verizon, UPS, and Newell-
Rubbermaid; to name a few.
