9. BUDGET
Estimated Cost : ₹ 665.81 Cr
Actual Cost : ₹ 1653.25 Cr
The Increament in project cost was due to payments of escalation ₹ 213
Cr on account of inordinate delay in completion (61 months ) .
New technical changes in the bridge at the behest of new consultant₹70 Cr
.
Contractor for delay in award of work ₹ 125 Cr .
Interest liability due to delayed completion ₹ 230 Cr .
10. PIERS :
The span between the piers is 50 maters .
This distance arrived by considering optimization between foundation cost
Vs. superstructure cost .
If the piers are wide apart then foundation cost comes down , but the
superstructure becomes heavier and its cost goes up .
Moreover, more number of piers provide better wind resistance .

12. CABLE WIRE
Are also known as ‘ Parallel Wire Stay Cables ’.
Manufactured by “Shanghai Pujiang Cable Co. Ltd” China .
Each cable consists a group of steel wires ( 6 wires ) .
Each steel wire has a diameter 7mm with a breaking limit of 6.28
Tones.
Group of these wires was packed in two layers of HDPE (High
Density Poly Ethylene) material .
13.
14. Highly uneven and variable foundation bed
even for plane area of one pile .
The maritime Board does not allow marine
traffic in monsoon season . Thus work was
halted Mid-May only to re-commence in
October . Effectively reducing the work
schedule to only seven month in a year .
Needed for extra steel trusses , further
experts .
Delay due to change in design of stray Cable
.
15. BENEFITS
Considerable savings in travel time from 40
min to 8 min
Estimated savings in fuel and vehicle
operating cost is around $ 16.2 million .
Stress free driving .
Reduced accidents and noise pollution .
Reduction in air pollution .
