2. Affiliate Marketing …?
Affiliate Marketing is a type of performance-
based marketing in which a business rewards
one or more affiliates for each visitor or
customer brought by the affiliate's own
marketing efforts.
Is a subset of Internet Marketing, a.k.a. Performance Marketing
The industry has four core players:
I. The merchant (also known as 'retailer' or 'brand').
II. The network (that contains offers for the affiliate to choose
from and also takes care of the payments).
III. The publisher (also known as 'the affiliate').
IV. The customer.

4. Choose a Niche Topic You and
Others Will Like. If you're the
only one who likes your chosen
topic, you won't make money.
On the other hand, if you choose
only what others like, you will
get bored. So look for the
"average person" in you and find
something that clicks both with
you and the majority of people.
TIP #1
5. Pick a Few Merchants on
the Same Topic. Start with
two merchants. Don't
make the mistake of
joining too many affiliate
programs. If you do, you'll
make too little money
with each one and have to
wait longer to get your
paychecks.
TIP #2
6. Do Not Use Ads That Look Like Ads. Ever
heard of "banner blindness"? People's
brains are now programmed to ignore
banners and other obvious ads. Don't
make your affiliate links LOOK like ads.
They will be ignored. When you pick an
affiliate program, make sure they give you
different options for displaying the
affiliate links. Then pick the one(s) that
look best on your web site. Graphics may
look good on some pages, but most
banners just don't work unless they are
quite targeted.
TIP #3
7. TIP #4
Write Content. Provide helpful
information to your visitors about the
topic. Along the way, promote the
affiliate program's products (not the
affiliate program itself). Say you are
selling herbal medicine for women.
Write about women's health and then
recommend the product(s).
8. TIP #5
Know the Product. Some people,
instead of writing content articles, just
post product info: details, pictures,
descriptions, prices, etc. However it
lacks the personal touch. If you're
going to do it this way, add personal
comments or reviews about the
item(s). People want to hear from
other people what they think of a
product.
9. TIP #6
Get Merchants to Give Away Stuff.
Make a deal with merchants for you
to give away some of their stuff
through your web site. For example,
if they sell software, make
arrangements for your visitors to
gain exclusive access to one of their
programs, or maybe a limited part of
their web site. When your readers
sign up for the exclusive
membership/download, they'll be
invited to upgrade to full
membership by the merchant. Either
way, you get a commission!
10. TIP #7
Set Up a Newsletter. Give away some
free ebook but ask for people's e-
mail addresses first. Bingo! They're
stuck with you. You can e-mail them
anytime with your offers from here to
eternity. Works great!
