4. OBJECTIVES The objectives of this survey are to find out which fast food chain is the most popular among Bruneians and also to look at the effects of the expanding trend of fast food restaurants in Brunei. Sample size: 150 PEOPLE Areas survey was conducted: The mall, UBD campus& at home (family and relatives)
5. ANALYSIS 1) AGE GROUP The majority of the people surveyed are teenagers, aged between 18-20
6. 2) FAVOURITE FAST FOOD RESTAURANT IN BRUNEI Mc Donald’s restaurant is the top favourite among the surveyed population
7. 3) HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILLING TO SPEND ON A MEAL? The majority of the people are willing to spend B$5-B$10 on one meal
8. How often do you eat fast food? They seldom consume fast food, most people would have fast food at least twice a month.
9. 5) WHICH TIME OF DAY DO THEY USUALLY HAVE FAST FOOD? Most people would prefer to eat fast food for lunch.
10. CONCLUSION From the surveyed results, we can conclude that the biggest consumers of fast food are teenagers. The most favourable fast food chain in Brunei is Mc Donald’s and people are willing to spend not more than B$10 on one meal.
11. FINDINGS Throughout the survey, we found out that fast food is very popular due to them being tasty, fast and convenient. Most people know that fast food have many negative impacts on their health, but they still choose to consume fast food at least once a week. We also discovered that the most desired fast food chains that is currently not available in Brunei is Burger King.
16. SUPER SIZE ME!! A short documentary by Spurlock on How Bad Fast Food Can Affect Human Health. He decided to embark on a 30 day Mc Donald’s – only diet to determine how significant are the impacts. He would only supersize his meals when asked. Spurlock gained 11 kgs in one month and suffered liver dysfunction and depression. Shortly after the documentary was released, Mc Donald’s eliminated the ‘Supersize’ option from it’s menus, denying the film had any influence on this action.
17. RECOMMENDATIONS Healthier fast food consumption: Keep the portion sizes small Go green- order a side salad to go with your meal instead of fries Order fruit juices or yougurt instead of soft drinks.
18. Fast Food Chains in Brunei have been doing really well and they are expanding steadily. We will definitely see the opening of more and more new fast food restaurants in Brunei Darussalam in the future.
