choose your words carefully. Be aware of the following
common problems in word choice:
Vague words: words that are too general to make an
impression. Examples include a
lot, awesome, bad, good, nice, and very.
Slang: informal language. Examples include chill for
relax or dis for disrespect.
Wordy language: using more words than necessary to
get your point across. Examples include as a result of
instead of because and at this point in time instead of now.
Clichés: phrases used so often that people no longer
pay attention to them. Examples include easier said than
done and work like a dog.
