Did you realize that decision-making and delegation are connected? In today's knowledge worker organizations, the complexity of problems is soo high, that better decisions are essential for our survival in the market. The more we can leverage the collective intelligence of diverse, high-performing, geographically distributed teams to make frequent, locally relevant, effective decisions themselves (by delegating these to them), the better our decisions become. Only a few strategic, infrequent decisions warrant centralization and the involvement of upper management. But in how many organizations, there is a lack of clarity about what type of decisions can teams make by themselves? The Delegation Poker and the Delegation Boards suggested here give teams and managers the opportunity to "play situations out" via games and simplify organizational decision-making. These methods are developed by Jurgen Appelo, Management 3.0 author and speaker, and are used worldwide on management training sessions by trainers like Andrea (Lean Advantage) and Ryan (Epam).
