4. 1.LOCATION OF PARIS
➲ Paris is located in the north-bending arc of the river Seine and
includes two islands, the Île Saint-Louis and the larger Île de la
Cité, which form the oldest part of the city. Overall, the city is
relatively flat, and the lowest point is 35 m , above sea level. Paris
has several prominent hills, of which the highest is Montmartre at
130 m.
5. 2.HISTORY
➲ The earliest archaeological signs of permanent settlements in the
Paris area date from around 4200 BC. The Paris, a sub-tribe of
the Celtic Senones, inhabited the area near the river Seine from
around 250 BC. The Romans conquered the Paris basin in 52
BC, with a permanent settlement by the end of the same century
on the Left Bank Sainte Geneviève Hill and the Île de la Cité. The
Gallo-Roman town was originally called Lutetia, or Lutetia
Parisorum but later Gallicised to Lutèce. It expanded greatly over
the following centuries, becoming a prosperous city with a forum,
palaces, baths, temples, theatres, and an amphitheatre.

➲ The tower stands 320 metres
(1,050 ft) tall, about the same
height as an 81-storey
building. During its
construction, the Eiffel Tower
surpassed the Washington
Monument to assume the title
of the tallest man-made
structure in the world, a title it
held for 41 years, until the
Chrysler Building in New York
City was built in 1930.

➲ Disneyland Park, commonly known as Disneyland, is the first of
two theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim,
California, opened on July 17, 1955. Spanning 160 acres and the
only theme park to be designed and built under the direct
supervision of Walt Disney, it is dedicated to fairy tales and
Disney characters.

The Stade Georges Lefèvre of the Camp des Loges was the main
stadium of Stade Saint-Germain until the club's merger with Paris
FC to form Paris Saint-Germain in 1970. It remained the home of
new club PSG almost until 1974.The Camp des Loges became
the training centre of PSG in 1974. It hosts training sessions for
the senior team and also serves as the home facility for the
Reserves and Academy and Female sides, which play their home
matches at the Stade Georges Lefèvre. The Camp des Loges
was renovated in 2008. Paris Saint-Germain became sole tenant
of the Parc des Princes in June 1973.
