PD Topic : Holistic Knowledge

2. Purpose
 Discuss as a team how to make
connections between different subjects in
our instruction.
 Brainstorm about implementation
techniques in our class.
 Reflect on results after second round of
informal observations.

3. What is holistic knowledge ?
 From the following source :
 ‘Holistic education is concerned with the
development of a person’s intellectual,
emotional, social, physical, artistic,
creative and spiritual potentials. School
aims to create “whole” individuals who are
well balanced in their outlook on life and
their personal understanding of
themselves in relation to the world.’

5. How to implement it ?
 Through the design of impactful
performance tasks at the end of units.
 Horizontal Planning that connects different
subjects.
 Avoid rote learning by giving examples
and making connections to everyday life
throughout lessons.

6. Which strategy shall we use ?
 In shared google doc, each teacher can
choose a personalized way to implement
holistic teaching.
 In an eventual meeting, we’ll reflect on
results and suggest ways to fine tune
approach.
