19. Conclusion Cystic fibrosis affects 30,000 people in the US and 70,000 people worldwide. It is important to raise awareness of this genetic disease because it is unheard of to many people. It is common that people who have heard of CF, donât know all of the facts about the disease. In most cases, people are unaware that they carry the gene until their child is born with CF. Raising awareness will help prepare people for the possibility of having a child/relative with the disease, promote fundraisers and research, enhance the quality of life for a person living with CF, and improve chances for finding a cure.
