either on a Canvas Page
or a Page App.

Promotions on Facebook must include the
following:
 A complete release of Facebook by each entrant or participant.
 Acknowledgment that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or
administered by, or associated with, Facebook.
 Disclosure that the participant is providing information to [disclose recipient(s)
of information] and not to Facebook.

You must not condition registration or entry
upon the user taking any action using any
Facebook features or functionality other than
liking a Page, checking in to a Place, or
connecting to your app. For example, you must
not condition registration or entry upon the user
liking a Wall post, or commenting or uploading
a photo on a Wall.

You must not use Facebook features or
functionality as a promotion’s registration or
entry mechanism. For example, the act of liking
a Page or checking in to a Place cannot
automatically register
or enter a promotion

Create the Contest Details
 What are the start and end dates?
 Does a specific time need to be listed?
 What are the rules?
 What platforms will be used?
 What are the deadlines?
 How will the winner be chosen?
 How will the winner be contacted?
Create the Message.
 Exactly what will be included in the
announcement message? Times? Rules?
Prize?
 How can you make the message and
contest sound the most simple?
Determine timeline.
 Determine deadlines.
 Determine what days the contested will
be promoted.
 Brainstorm creative ways to promote the
contest and include them in the timeline.
 Determine when to cross promote across
all social media platforms.
Contest Advertising
 Will additional social advertising be used?
 Will this be coordinated with text message
marketing, email marketing, videos or
blogs?
Create Contest Graphics
 Determine which graphics need to be
created. This usually requires a banner, a
like gate, and a main contest image.
 Be sure to follow rules and regulations for
certain graphics. Images for Facebook
ads and cover photos can only have 20%
text.
 Do any additional advertising graphics or
signage need to be created?
Launch & Monitor Contest
 Use the contest message to launch the
contest.
 Monitor the contest closely.
 Follow the timeline and make adjustments
as needed.
Contest Follow-Up
 Contact the winner and take advantage
of any photo opportunities.
 Thank your participants.
 Write a blog.

  • 14. Determine timeline.  Determine deadlines.  Determine what days the contested will be promoted.  Brainstorm creative ways to promote the contest and include them in the timeline.  Determine when to cross promote across all social media platforms.
  • 15. Contest Advertising  Will additional social advertising be used?  Will this be coordinated with text message marketing, email marketing, videos or blogs?
  • 16. Create Contest Graphics  Determine which graphics need to be created. This usually requires a banner, a like gate, and a main contest image.  Be sure to follow rules and regulations for certain graphics. Images for Facebook ads and cover photos can only have 20% text.  Do any additional advertising graphics or signage need to be created?
  • 17. Launch & Monitor Contest  Use the contest message to launch the contest.  Monitor the contest closely.  Follow the timeline and make adjustments as needed.
  • 18. Contest Follow-Up  Contact the winner and take advantage of any photo opportunities.  Thank your participants.  Write a blog.
