Parental aspirations for their children has a larger impact
on student learning than feedback from teachers, study
skills, homework, testing, and teacher education.
School, student, and social factors affect formal (usually
in school) and informal learning (usually outside school:
home, work, independent reading, self-study, meetings, etc.)
It is key for teachers, students, parents/guardians,
administrators, managers, politicians, and others to act
based upon these factors to improve learning.
It is also key for independent adults to act based upon
these factors when learning new knowledge and skills in such
things as cooking, home and garden care, job training, and
caring for their own children.
Factors are highly connected and similar to “Russian
dolls”.
