American Express where he led the transformation of the consumer card business. As
VP-Marketing Sales & After-sales at General Motors, he was responsible for
successfully establishing “Chevrolet” in India, ramping up volumes & expanding the
distribution footprint. As Head-Marketing for Reliance Infocomm, he was a core team
member in launching Reliance India mobile. Amit has earlier worked with HUL for over
12 years. His assignments at HUL included Marketing Head for the Mass Market Tea’s

Services at American Express International. He was also the Regional

In this role, which he held since June 2003, Mr Kapoor was responsible for growing a
profitable merchant business in Singapore, India, Thailand and across rest of ASEAN
overseeing Sales, Marketing and Operations as well as providing strategic direction and
focus to strengthen Amex merchant coverage and position in the Japan, Asia Pacific and
Australia region. Through the introduction of a series of innovative initiatives and
strategic partnerships , Mr Kapoor significantly grew American Express market share in
several of these countries. Prior to 2003, Mr Kapoor was the Director and Head of the
Merchant Business for India and Area Countries since 1997.

Expectations
• A Member was travelling out of Delhi, and he wanted
Hot ‘Hing Kachoris’ for breakfast from a small store in
that particular place. We managed to arrange the
same for breakfast and got it delivered to the hotel
where member was staying
• We got a call from the secretary of a
company(Mumbai) MD late at night. The MD and his
family wanted to travel next day to Sydney by business
class –preferably by Thai airways. They had tried
contacting a lot of travel agents and could not get
confirmed business class tickets on any of the airlines,
let alone Thai airways. Next morning, with less than 12
hrs in hand, we managed to source confirmed
business class tickets for the whole family on Thai
Airways for the same day. Not only they we also
provided them with a Meet & Greet Service to help
them through the immigration process
