What we plan to do is a minimalist horror film, mixing ideas of suspense, claustrophobia and “things going bump in the night”. We will use different technological aspects in this film, for example the various electrical appliances malfunctioning due to the presence or “ghost” in the house. We will use a TV, an Xbox, a house phone, and a lamp. The film is set in one house mostly creating a sense of lonely desperation for the protagonist as he tries to work out what is going on. It will be set into 2 nights, night 1 and night 2 where different supernatural events will quickly escalate.
Our film will take some horror ideas and techniques from such films as Paranormal activity and Gothika
Picture it. A boy alone in his house. Parents away on a trip. He is in bed, and we see his lamp start to move on his bedside table. It moves inches at a time until finally flying off onto the floor with a bang. The bang wakes him up and, deliriously, he walk out onto the landing to see what happened. We see something stood watching him, but he sees nothing as he is still groggy from just waking up. He then goes downstairs to see if there is anything there, and we stay with the figure, which remains stationary as he walks around downstairs.
The same house as the night before. The boy has a friend over to look out for anything strange. The two 0f them are upstairs playing the Xbox, when one gets up and goes downstairs to the kitchen for a snack. We follow him al the way down and back up again, and nothing happens to him. They continue playing. Suddenly the lights go out, and they are sat in darkness. After a couple of seconds the lights come back on, and the audience sees something in the room with them. The two boys see nothing. They are still panicking however, as the electrical appliances in the room are all turning on and off, and showing strange images e.g. the TV. The the lights go out again, and when they come back on only one of the boys is left in the room. He instantly panics and walks slowly out onto the landing, where he sees the loft hatch quickly shut. He opens it again and goes up to see what is there….
